i work with this male RN on my floor, and he totally kisses all of the doctors butts. he's sort of grumpy in his normal state to everyone else, but completely changes anytime a doctor comes around. seriously, i think he would drop down and start doing push ups if a doctor ordered it. on top of that, whenever he talks to a doctor, albeit on the phone or in person, he says "doctor" way too often. "yes doctor, no problem doctor, hello doctor, ok doctor, my pleasure doctor, doctor, doctor, doctor!" I counted how many times he said doctor on his last phone call, and it was 10 times!! i'm not saying this is a bad thing persay, just very, very annoying anytime i have to listen to it.
Pretty interesting that everyone is being so judgmental about this person.
To put it plainly, sucking up does work sometimes. Teasing this person won't help them. Neither will being rude to him or ignoring him. Those that participate in this behavior should not be on Allnurses complaining about rude patients, families or doctors as they are participating in the same rude behavior.
If you really can't stand that person ignore him. People have different standards of conduct. We can go around life thinking ours are better than others but we can't really do anything about their behavior. So why worry. Besides, if we are as good as we like to pretend and better than these people then they won't have anything to run to management about will they?
Just a solitary humble opinion.

Just kill him with kindness! Address him by "nurse" (say "oh thank you nurse mike, yes nurse mike"), bring sweets to work when you know that he will be on, and become a brown-noser to him.
Sometimes things that are emotionally bothersome are physically insignificant. Turn it emotionally around in your favor so you can smirk each time you hear him say "doctor". Have fun with it. Try not to get upset about it because all that really matters is if he physically does his job well, treats everyone with respect, and is a team-player.
