any good tips to give new pre-reqs students- I should be done with all my pre-reqs by summer 2015, but I can apply to the TCC nursing program after two sciences, which will be spring 2015, buuut someone told me to finish up all the pre-reqs before applying.
do you finish all your pre-reqs or apply when you were eligible?? thanks

I finished all my pre-reqs before applying, but that is because two of the schools I am applying to give points for doing so. I would check with your school to find out the minimum requirements for applying, and if they use a point system, do they give extra points for having co-reqs done beforehand. I suggest going to a Nursing Info Session or speaking to an advisor. Best of luck to you!

Good day, mbtsab:
Our school also uses a point system; as such, it was in my best interest to finish all the prerequisites prior to applying. If your school allows you to apply often (ours was only twice a year) without penalty for # of attempts and doesn't use a point system, then apply early and potentially often.
Thank you.

My school also uses a point system, as well as an entrance test with knowledge based from your courses. Personally, I would complete everything already. But it depends on your program.

Surprising enough, I was just accepted to my colleges nursing program. Funny thing, my pre wont be finished until the end of this month. I think what tipped the admission in my favor was my TEAS test scores, pre's GPA, and professionalism. I placed 98th percentile in TEAS, making A's in the pres, always dressed up on any sit down meeting with the nursing staff.
Good luck :)

My school also goes off a points system. I had certain classes I had to have done when applying. Then my acceptance was conditional on me getting my last prereq done and passing it this summer. It all depends on the school. But if it is a prereq it must be done before officially entering the program.

Check with the schools that you're applying to. At my school you can have up to 13 prereqs in progress when you apply and only one can be a science course. The nursing school goes by GPA alone and then they take 96 of the highest GPAs to interview and 64 get admitted.
