Hey all, I am a LPN and I am starting my journey w/Excelsior to becoming an RN! I am starting with Transitions. Is anyone else preparing for this test? I am planning to take it Nov 19. I would love a study buddy or any tips and words of encouragement. I ordered the Lisa Arend's study guide from ebay but thinking about also purchasing a textbook. Looking forward to hearing from you :)

Im taking that test on Saturday. Im using study group 101 notes and flashcard exchange to help prepare. This will be my 5th test and those two study guides ive used for all the other and ive been doing just fine. I hear you need to know the roles of CNA's, LPN's and RN's. Also, make sure you know the history of nursing. Ill post more after I take it on Saturday. Good luck!

Get the practice tests from Excelsior. You will be glad you did. And congratulations on getting started.

Thanks brenan and calliotter for the info. Brenan, is study group 101 expensive to join? I am on a really, really tight budget so I am trying to cut wherever I can. I just got the textbook for 75 cents on half.com plus shipping.

Caliotter, the practice tests are the study guides you can print off excelsior's website or something different?

The practice tests are in addition to the study guides you download from the EC website. Their website is difficult to navigate. You have to look. They cost about $65 and you get two versions of the test that you do on a computer. (People have hinted that you should save them somehow, they come in handy). The questions are just like the real test and some of the questions are very likely to show up in some form or fashion.

Study group 101 is a great resource! Its $10 per study guide, but they are worth it! They have tons, and tons, of practice questions. Ive passed every test due to them! The website is www.studygroup101.com.

I just ordered 1234 on ebay for $30....h&s, chronicity, repro, diff.....I should be getting it soon and then I can study from it. Wanna take h&s soon. Then was gonna move to repro. Gonna order transitions next. Saving life span 123 for last.

I have used SG101, not bad, tons of info. I have taken Transitions and HS so far and passed. The practice tests from EC are what save me though. I usually take them when I think I am ready for the teast, then study right from the tests (they give you the correct answers with rationals) That helped me alot! I'm onto Repro next! anyone take that one yet???

I took Repo last monday. Not bad, I studied for about 1 1/2 and passed with a C. I only used study group 101. There was a good amount on reproductice disorders and postpartum. Good luck

The only practice test i've seen on ec website was the one that came in the content study outline. Are there other practice exams on ec site. I also took the practice tests on the college network site. They had some of the same q's as ec. My 101 should be here in a few days then I will have more study questions.

when logged into the MyEc website, scroll down and on the right hand side where it says FREE CONTENT GUIDES right above that should be a link that says EXCELSIOR COLLEGE PRACTICE EXAM REGISTRATION- you pay 65 bucks for immediate access to two practice exams...i ahve bought one for every exam i have taken, and lots of times those same questions are on the actual exam...maybe worded a bit different but VERY similar...My grades are in my signature, i only use the recommended textbooks, i found that the studygroup 101 and lisa arrends just didnt work for me, because i like to take my own notes not read someone elses...they are good don't get me wrong, but just not for me. I ordered two to try and decided i'd go with something else! =) good luck to you all testing...ive got Repro on the 5th to take and Chrono on the 28th
