just passed NCLEX and scared to go out there

Published

well i just passed my NCLEX last week and pretty much need to start working.

To begin with i am excited and don't even know where to start in terms of looking for a job.

Secondly I am somewhat scared of starting on a job, what will i do when situations arise???

Any help and any advise on how to calm my fears and where to start looking for a job.

I am still doing my job search i have a few interviews in the making so i hope i get somehting out of even one of them. Some one advised me not to be hasty to take the first job that comes along but as a new nurse out there i think i am better off grabbing whatever comes first and getting some experience under my belt before i can pick and chose.

What do you think???

I avoid the dilemma of having to make a choice by essentially only looking at one employer at a time. I will apply to my first choice. If I don't get a response or job offer in a reasonable amount of time, then I move on to my second choice and so on. Then, when I do get a job offer, there is only one on the table and I can choose to accept it or move on to the next place. I've been hired on the spot several times so I didn't have to go on to the next place. I wouldn't want to have, say, seven resumes out there, then get callbacks from four, four interviews, and three to choose from. That's why I only do one at a time. It works for me.

I passed my NCLEX on Nov. 3rd. I start my new job on the sub-acute wing of a LTC facility. I know how you feel. We where "scared" taking finals, "scared" first day of cliniclas, "scared" taking the exit exam and "scared" taking NCLEX. Then you have a great sigh of relief that you are done! Or are we. Nope! now for the job. I am aprehensive, scared, anxious, all sorts of emotions. But as a great nurse once said to me the difference between a good nurse and a great nurse is the great nurse asks questions. I plan on asking a lot of them!:bugeyes:

I took my NCLEX yesterday-got my results today and I passed! I know you will too. I was a wreck-Ithought I had failed for sure-I had 85 questions and I honestly can't remember any of them! Hang in there-I know it's hard but have faith.

CONGRADULATIONS:yeah::yeah:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why are you scared the hardest part is over. I was interveiwing for jobs while I was waiting to take the NCLEX. I was lucky that I was hired, or the held a postion until I passed.

Just relax, You will have to go through a training period, now go and start your career that you worked so hard to do.

Thankyou for your words of much needed encouragement. I too, have been relentlessly applying for jobs, but most before I took my exam, with no response. Now that I have an official Licence number I think my resume will receive more attention. Good luck on your new position!! There are so many "hurdles" to this process of fullfilling our nursing dreams! Getting into school, exam after exam, clinicals, NCLEX and then finding a job. If we made it this far we can go all the way, and although it was hard work, it is very exciting-we are always challenged, which is a good thing.

Congrats on passing your nclex exam! Im sure you will find a great job! Remember to have a job is a blessing there are millions of people laid off ! Good lUck!
