Just Passed the Nclex-pn... how is the job outlook for LVNs in Cali?

Published

So after some grueling studying, I passed my nclex pn. I am unsure how the jobout look is because of our current economy and I've read many threads where some LVN's do have some difficulty finding jobs. Are there any of those who are doing per diem work as LVN's and can provide some insight vs. taking a part time LVN job.

I'm from the san jose area in California and also looking through job search sites such as careerbuilder, monster, etc... also any help on resume building would greatly be appreciated as I'd love to have a comparision to what I've written.

Congratulations on passing your NCLEX!

Congratulations on passing your NCLEX:yeah: My mother lives out there and works as an RN at a jail have you looked there? What books did you use to study for you NCLEX if you dont mind me asking?

I found LVN employment when I left San Jose.

Specializes in LTC.

There seems to be a lot of jobs on the Peninsula but I don't know if you want to travel in that direction.

Thanx for all the replies... from SJ I'm looking at a 25 mi radius more towards palo alto as I'm trying to finish up the last crunch of credits to apply for my bsn degree fall 09. As for books I used, Saunders is definitely the way to go and I also bought the Kaplan Qbank for variety.

Anyone out there have experience looking for per diem jobs and how they fare as a part job instead getting a part time job?

chubbi17s did you find a job, how do i search the online sites such as careerbuilder etc?, i also just passed my lpn exams and lives in ontario california, how are jobs here, can anyone help link me to a job?, i am a male nurse and will work in any environment.
Specializes in Breast Cancer, Oncology, Pulmonology.

I live in So CAL and am a 4th semester RN student trying to challenge the LVN boards. I too, am looking for the best book to utilize; from what I'm hearing... Saunders seems to be the book of choice. Do most of you agree? Also, what about Kaplan, I hear about that as well, although not as often?

I have decided to test for the LVN while I await for my "seat" as a re-entry 4th semester... which has been a YEAR now! Its time to move on. sadly...
