hi. i am new here. at the same time, i just passed my nclex 2 days ago. what's next?? at the moment...i am enjoying MY MOMENT after months of studying the biggest exam of my life but i know soon i have to work.....so, may i ask any tips on how to start this new found career? i was told to call up the hospitals around where i live ( san jose, cali) and ask for the "new grad program". do i call the HR...ask for the nurse recruiter....what questions will i ask from them and how will be my interview? well....i am thinking of working in the medical surgical department first to enhance my basic nursing skills and bedside care.....to all nurses out there....what area would you suggest for a NEW RN like me to get my feet wet? ahhh....i am still in heaven after passing my nclex but the same time....i would like to work soon.......megan

Welcome!! A lot of hospitals now have websites that list their job openings, you could probably find them through google.
Nowadays new grads are taken in almost all areas. If you truly don't have an interest, then med-surg is what most people recommend for experience.
I would ask for the nurse recruiter at these places. Good luck and congrats!

If I were you I would type up a really nice resume and then hand them out or mail them to the Personnel Dept or Nurse Recruiters of hospitals closest to where you live and see what happens. Also you could start calling around asking about any intern programs in your area that may be available. Good Luck and keep us posted. Most of the new grads from our program last year had jobs waiting on them when they graduated. They all started sending out resumes months in advance.
