So I am really excited to have been accepted into nursing school! I am so nervous but this will probably be the best experience of my life. To all of you nurses out there, is there any advice relating to stress that you can provide to me? I am naturally a stressed person but I am very strong and have been through a lot to be able to handle the experiences that entail with nursing. An area of improvement that I am trying to work on is controlling and managing stress...I just dont really know where to begin. I appreciate it!

I don't have any advice, just wanted to say congrats! I got accepted to a program that starts this fall. I'm nervous, but so excited.

Congrats! I'm all stressed out because I'm beginning my program in a couple of weeks, but I remember the pure excitement of getting that admissions letter as a high-stress individual myself, I would say take time to intentionally relax whenever you feel like everything has muddled together into a huge, swirling ball of stress. Taking 10-20 minutes just to put stuff out of my mind and find my chill helps me to return to the tasks I need to complete with a renewed sense of focus/ability to prioritize and be calm.

Don't try to study ahead of time (i.e. before the class starts)
Get plenty of sleep before clinical
Understand the process rather than memorize the outcome
It is normal to have to relearn things later in the program, you will be exposed to large amounts of information, so don't freak out about having to revisit some subjects.
Try not to resort to alcohol to reduce stress, do something more productive like exercise/friends etc.
Don't argue with your clinical instructors, they have their way of doing things and it's best if you keep quiet and do it their way.
Use UWORLD to study for your boards. Expect to relearn or refresh most of the subject you've been taught, you tend to have a study induced delirium toward the end of your schooling. Aim for above 50%, and focus on the rationales of each question.

Congrats ! I start on August 22nd as well !. Good luck to you all !
Mind explaining your reasoning for this? I read somewhere else that it's a good thing to study some basics of med-math (like... super basic.... e.g., refreshing your unit conversion skills) and memorize some lab values prior to starting.
Because you will be taught when you need to know
Now if you know yourself to be extremely bad at math, sure you can do some problems ahead of time, however studying any actual content is ill advised as school will teach you when to and how to use the material instead of just studying it on your own without context.
