I didn't want to sound too assuming that I will get a job offer but I just want to ask your opinion how you think my interview went as this is my first interview for a nursing job.

I work in a Cardiac Stepdown unit as a PCT and unfortunately there are no openings in my unit when I passed the NCLEX-RN 2 weeks ago. I luckily scored an interview with the manager of the rehab unit (freestanding acute rehab hospital partnered with the #1 rehab hospital in the country) today.

Interview lasted for about 1 hour and 15 minutes. She toured me around the facility, introduced me to some nurses and a supervisor, and she was talking in future tense like "when you start orientation..." etc. I got to ask a lot of questions and she seemed impressed that I researched about FIM scoring. I have a scheduled job shadowing in 2 weeks.

Does it look promising? I'm nervous and excited at the same time!

It sounds like it went great but I'm going to be the voice of reason. Leave every interview assuming you don't have the job. Write an awesome thank you follow up letter and then try to move on as if you don't have the job. That way you will keep up your search until you do hear something. And if you get that job offer you will be pleasantly surprised instead of continually worrying and dwelling on it. I hope you get it though. Good luck!

Thank you I appreciate your reply. I always make it a habit to send thank you cards and it always works for me.

AARRRGGGGHHHH

So, how difficult would it have been to tell you "I am tentatively offering you the job, but the official offer must come from HR and will be contingent on the results of your background screen and drug test. HR will be contacting you next week to schedule both of these" Even the most strictly regulated companies would allow managers to say that.

I am an internal applicant. The manager asked me if the HR has a copy of my NCLEX pass license pending letter which I showed her. I moved the shadowing schedule earlier to get it done earlier.
