Just curious as to what you would do in this situation.

Okay, I was looking for the "joker" icon to stick to this thread, but there isn't one so I used the comedy/tragedy masks instead.

Okay, so what would YOU do if this happened to you?

You are working the admissions office of a psychiatric hospital/chemical treatment center, which happens to be located in a large college town. It is three o'clock in the MORNING. In walks three young men, early 20's. One of them says "I need to be admitted for rehab, I'm a huge alcoholic.". You're like "Okay, have a seat in this office and we'll talk about this, see if we need to admit you", or whatever. One of the young men then says "Ma'am, he doesn't really need to be admitted, he's not an alcoholic, we are just fraternity pledges and this is part of a scavenger hunt. One of the things we had to do was get 'admitted for rehab'"

So what do you do? Do you sort of play along, especially if you're bored and there is no one else waiting to be admitted? Take his picture, stick it to a form with the hospital logo on it, stamp "admitted" on it or whatever, and then send these fun loving young men on their way?

Or do you immediately tell these fools to get the f out of the building, this isn't a place for joking around?

to the last poster... *chuckle* that song came to my mind too. :lol2:

Anyway, thanks for the replies... my answer was, I would have shooed them out and probably said exactly as I quoted in my post. I'm pretty far removed from those college years though.

My coworker, who is NOT so far removed from those years, thought that the whole thing was rather humerous and talked like she could TOTALLY relate.

I wouldn't be too sure it was a pledge situation...It could be that college has nothing to do with it...What if he needed proof of admittance to a recovery program for a probation officer - like a repeated DUI type deal. You could be getting in the middle of something legal or worse, criminal...
Oh, good point! I'd never have thought of that possibility

I might have burst into song:

They're tryin' to make ya go to rehab

But I say NO NO NO

They're tryin' to make ya go to rehab

But now you gotta GO GO GO

And she should have GONE GONE GONE. . .:)
