Hello everyone,
I'm planning to take my test in July and I am doing Suzanne first plan. Is anyone out there thinking taking their test in July please come and help and share ideas..
Thanks
psalter - congrats!!![]()
You are right, this site is the best for support and encouragement. I have the most supportive family who tries so hard to say the right things like "You can do it", or "you'll pass next time", and my all time favorite is "If it was easy everyone would be a nurse". I know they mean well, and I love them for it, but being on this site and seeing that you aren't the only one who didn't pass and hearing that so many people have the same feelings and thoughts that you do is very comforting to me. I need the support of my family, but there is nothing like the support that you get in the nursing family from those who actually know what you are going through. So, anyway, good luck on your new career, psalter!!
I was laughing reading your post. I didn't pass the exam the my first try. The comments that people say are both encouraging and outrageous. But I know that they mean well.
Hey all I just had to share some GREAT news!!! I had 4 job offers today after just having my license for about a week!!! I took 2 of them to help pay off student loans, one is a 6a-2p M-F and the other is a weekend program Sat-Sun from 6a-10p but get paid for 40hrs. I am so excited and nervous at the same time. I start one of them tomorrow morning, wish me luck! I will keep all of you in my prayers!!!
Prentice Hall has a Pharm book which has nclex bullets for drugs...in case you're weak on drug classes.
It's overwhelming but I am reviewing drugs these last 6 days, along with delegation and priority, math, and infection control rehearsals (again). And to make sure I know the s/s of electrolyte imbalances. I've seen some test questions where they ask about a patient being on a diuretic where you lose K+ and what s/s to report and "generalized weakness" is the answer with the angle that it's a symptom of hypokalemia.
I hope I know "enough" to pass because the studying could never end and I'll never feel ready. I don't know if this is good, but I think I just need to test at this point and try it. Intense studying for 3+ months, daily. I can't take much more!!!!!!! And it doesn't even mean I remember what I read 5 days ago let alone 2 months ago!
I PASSED, I PASSED! THANK YOU ALL NURSES! this site has been my motivating grounds for passing the nclex the second time around.. when i first took my nclex and failed i thought its the end of my career, but then again a lot of nurses here comforted me and a lot believed that this time im going to make it.FAITH, perseverance and trust in yourself are the keys to success..
a week before my exam, i got brokenhearted but that didnt stop me from what ive been putting my efforts, goes to show that you have to sacrifice one to have a better one! im just so lucky passing the nclex and together with the approval of my i-140.. thank GOd!
i reviewed with kaplan for 3months, did suzzanes plan, mosbys prioritization and delegation, nclex 3000 and lippincott.. for a total of 6mos preparation. i really alloted time that much because i reallly dont wanna fail again!
to all second takers dont lose hope, just put all your efforts and dedication and you will pass!:)
thank you suzzane and the rest of the moderators..

Did you feel like the Mosby's Delegation and Prioritization helped? I have that too...I love Mosby's but some of the answers are making me wonder.
Congratulations...all your hard work paid off.

Hey study mom,
Im over here doing some saunders q's im so drained but I must keep going!! I also have the priorty book.. I like it but I dont, know your right about the answers sometimes. They are questionable. They have LPNs and UAP doing things I didnt think they were suppose to.

Yeah, it was confusing. Now I did just talk to someone who's been a PCA at our Children's Hospital and will work in ICU when she passes nclex and she said to make sure you differentiate the "initiate" vs. "reinforcing" words for LPN's. Like they may not be able to initiate an initial assessment or initiate a patient teaching, but they can reinforce it. That helped me.
Mosby's is usually pretty good but did you notice the book referenced Saunders in parts? Well, heck, why not just use Saunders then?!!!
The ncsbn questions are nice review too. There are contradictions between sources too...like one book and my critical teacher will say CK-MB, first choice for test but then my meds pub and meds pub reviewer said troponin is the gold standard for specificity to the cardiac muscle. I don't know which one to choose! It's been like that for a year on that one. There are other things like that.
