I'm planning to take my test in July and I am doing Suzanne first plan. Is anyone out there thinking taking their test in July please come and help and share ideas..

Thanks

I saw someone posted on this site that they thought the Pearson Exam Cram was the best with a "hint" next to it. I bought it immediately since Pearson is the name associated with the nlcex. Some questions are in the repetitive zone but there are new angles to some of these.

I did the entire Mosby's which helped me with Hesi, and did the entire Hesi book and cd.

I am going through the Saunders Q&A just because I like the division of nclex test areas in this book. For example, Mosby's divides their content up by clinical content, which I liked for Hesi, and I like the meds being at the end of each section in Mosby's. Saunders, however, allows you to pull questions based on the feedback you get from Hesi - like if it's more physiological content or safety, etc.

I did the entire Pearson's book and I thought it was good actually. I will review that before the nclex.

I did the Lippincott's new format questions, both editions, the small books. I started on the larger Lippincott.

I did some Lippincott in the Q&A book.

I did the test in the Kaplan OTC book, not the program, on the cd and the book - I laughed at the one for Guillian Barre - like I'd pick that syndrome out of all syndromes based on the question they posted. NOT!

Anyway, I don't know what else to do.

Our Meds Pub review was part of what we paid for within our college program and the woman who did the review writes questions for the boards and told us which areas to focus on. I thought she was good - seemed to know everything! The meds part helped. I'm reviewing that too. I taped the last day so I'm listening to endocrine and peds again.

In addition, through nursing school, I used whatever books the teachers had on their desks that they may have pulled test questions from - so I have NSNA, Davis, you name it, that I worked on throughout the last couple years as I went.

If I fail this blessed test, it won't be because I didn't try. You know? The meds pub lady said the leading contenders for study books were Mosby's and Saunders because people felt like the rationales made sense to them. The test questions won't ever be the same, but I assume it's whether you getting that "nuance" to the question.

When I took Hesi, there were some that were easy but some (a lot) that I though "no clue - educated guess" and I scored well on it.

I don't know what else to do.

I've gotta say, Studymom, all I did was Kaplan online. I thought the NCLEX was hard but fair and very much like Kaplan....at least the types of questions and wording, if not the actual content. I passed the first time with 75 questions after taking 6 years...YES 6 YEARS !!!!!...to complete my ASN, so I can't say enough about Kaplan.

Best of luck to you!!!

Congrats! I'm taking mine on July 31st and am also taking Kaplan online : ) It's been really helpful so far and I'm going through all the videoes right now. I haven't got the book yet; did you find that helpful?

Yes, I found the book very, very helpful. I went through the book, made flashcards for everything I didn't already feel comfortable about (I've been an LVN for 12 years) and then did ALL the Q-bank questions and Question Trainers.

I'm doing the $49 ncsbn 3 week online class now. It's challenging.

I guess I've been confused by Kaplan reports. I have the OTC book and cd but the online course is what you're referring to?

Part of the reason why I had a lot of books, was because we had Hesi the week after our college graduation...which, yes, sucked. No time for enjoying your achievement!!! Ha.

I'm glad to hear that you thought the test was doable...this is rare.

Hi everyone..

Anyone in california who took the exam July 21 and still hasnt seen their name on the website?

By the way, I shut off at 75.

I'm really getting paranoid.

i took my test last june 26. for the second time! and ended the same number which is 265. got my results last july 5 and i nailed it! the reason why i pass the exam bec. i believe in this site! i only believe those positive comments that are written here! im glad that i found this site bec this is the only site who can understand of what we been through and its really relaxing bec. most of the people here are very supportive!

those taker who end up 265 question dont lose hope, stay positive!

people here are praying for you specially that horrifying 265 question! then God bless to of all us! and may we a GOOD NURSES today, tomorrow and in the future!:loveya:

psalter - congrats!! :yeah:

You are right, this site is the best for support and encouragement. I have the most supportive family who tries so hard to say the right things like "You can do it", or "you'll pass next time", and my all time favorite is "If it was easy everyone would be a nurse". I know they mean well, and I love them for it, but being on this site and seeing that you aren't the only one who didn't pass and hearing that so many people have the same feelings and thoughts that you do is very comforting to me. I need the support of my family, but there is nothing like the support that you get in the nursing family from those who actually know what you are going through. So, anyway, good luck on your new career, psalter!!:nurse:
