Is anyone else out there applying for the 2012 Accelerated BSN at Jacksonville University?
How long did it take everyone to hear back about their general acceptance to Jacksonville University. Did they call to tell you or did you have to wait to get a letter in the mail?
I applied to them a long time ago but I never sent in my transcripts but once I went in to talk to the admissions rep, I sent my transcripts in and a week later I received a phone call 1st and then a letter.
I went to JU for undergrad and had applied last year but was unable to finish my prereqs for the people concerned about which GPA they take into consideration. Chris has told me they take both into consideration but your overall GPA was first priority. Also heads up for everyone the interview last year was not a one on one interview. In my case I interviewed with one other girl who pretty much had the same background and involvements as myself. I wasn't prepared for that when I had gotten there so it was a bit of a shock it's somewhat of a competition in there.

So are in the Nursing program or not? I'm trying to understand. You're saying that your cumulative GPA takes priority? What was some of the things that they asked at the interview and how was it a competition, did she do community service or something?
As I said in my first post I was unable to finish the prereqs in time so no I am not in the program. I am applying for Spring 2012 since I will have completed my prereqs at the end of this term. Chris had told me cumulative GPA ranks highest in priority followed by your prereq GPA so the way he explained it was that they look at them separately and your cumulative is more important. They asked why you want to be a nurse, an instance in which you've went out of your way to help someone, what you want to do with your nursing career as in would you be wanting to further your education, basically things like that. I say competition bc when you are in there it feels as though you are interviewing "against" the person you are paired with. It is more of a dual interview then one on one. They ask you both the same question and see how you both answer it. In my case the girl and I had similar GPAs, same major, both involved in our sororities, and both involved in community service.
JSarno07,
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. It is wonderful to talk to people that have a greater insight into the application process. Do you feel pretty confident that you will be accepted this year since your pre-reqs are all finished? Some days I feel that I will get in, but other days I feel less confident. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
MontanaRed,
I'm glad to help and I wish you the best of luck with your application! I know that back and forth feeling of uncertainty, it's the worst. As for this year, I feel confident that I have a good chance of being accepted. I guess it will all depend on the applicant pool they have this year. My cumulative GPA for my undergrad isn't very strong so thats my only worry. As I said before Chris had always told me that GPA was what took first priority. However I also know that with most program's applying as an alumna gives you higher chances of being accepted which I am hoping will help me make the cut. JU really is a spectacular school going there again would be wonderful.
Hi guys,
I am curious if anyone has either gotten a confirmation email that their application arrived or if their application check had been cashed?
I mailed my application certified mail so that I would know that it made it to JU, however the post office "lost" my application packet. It was tracked all the way from Montana to Jacksonville Florida but since then there has been no record of it. It was tracked at the Jacksonville post office on November 12th. According to the postal service it was never officially received/signed by the university and they have no way of telling me where it is. They told me it is "likely" that it made it the university and also "unlikely." So I will not know if my application arrived until I hear from the university, or they cash my check. I truly hope my packet made it!
That is terrible to hear because I know how passionate everyone is to get into the program. We're going to hope that it made it to the university. Did you email the admissions coordinator, Casey Hampton? I had my application sent so that the signature would get mailed back as well. Hopefully, you made a copy of the application.
