JPS info needed for Group of LVN Students

Yeah, I tried that first before writing on here....they weren't very enthused to tell me much info, but I did already get some of the questions that I didn't post from them already. Thanks though

i can help you i think . i went to jps for nursing school and did 90% of my clinicals there. however, this was about 6 years ago.

1. yes they hire easily ,especially for med-surg

2. i did not see any lvn's in l&d or icu. but on the regular floors you do everything but spike blood and there are some drugs lvn's cannot iv push. you dont pronounce either. admission assessments are done by the rn but im sure that the daily assessments are done by the lvn

3. 12 hour shifts on the floors 7a-7p 7p-7a

4. i know that they offered me 9.50 to start as a lvn in 1999. i went back about 2 years ago and they offered me 13/hr as a senior lvn.

if you can afford it ,it is worth taking less pay to work at jps. things happen there you will see no other place.

hey everyone- i'm an lvn student in the area and we're doing an assignment to check out different facilities which hire lvn's. my group was assigned to jps. if any of you could help me out with the following questions- it would be greatly appreciated!
do lvn's hire on easily at jps?
what are the various duties of lvns that work at jps?
do they work regular 12 hour shifts like most hospitals?
do you know what the average starting salary for a new lvn would be at jps? :

I am a nursing student there now (accelerated BSN program). Of our 5 students on the floor, I was the only student who was paired with a RN. All the other student were paired with LVNs, so yes, they do work there. Are they currently hiring? not sure, but I can't imagine that they would not be hiring with the nursing shortage.

I did ask my nurse about the starting salary range (for RN) and she said that it was comprable to Cooks. I would assume that the LVN pay range would be competative with other facilities in the area.

We have only been in the hospital once. Monday is our next clinical. I will ask the nurse that I get paired up with and report more info then (if you want).
