Joliet Junior College Fall 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone :) I just applied to the nursing program at JJC. I've completed all my prereqs for the program. Great GPA, with a 73 on my teas exam. How's everyone's scores looking? :) and good luck to all who has applied!!!

It is- but it is percentile 55% your teas score, then GPA, then completed classes. I don't have the exact other two precentiles with me right now.

I have a meeting Monday to see why I didn't not get in this time and what I specifically need to do for June.

Is anyone admitted to the JJC nursing programme?

They reschedule my nursing advisor appt to the 25th- so I guess I will just pick classes for the fall then see what they say about me applying in the June!

Did you get admitted?

Unfortunately no not even alternate- I'm going to find out why- and what I need to make the cut in june

Madmama4, I am almost sure, because you didnt have 2 prereqs.

I think it was my GPA because people with lower TEAS score. This is why I'm going to advising to be sure.

I got admitted into day programme. I dont know if I am excited, because I know how hard the programme is.. I know how my friends were studying nursing, not having life at all besides studying...and I have small children now, so I dont know how I will make it.

Jamie jones did you get then information for vaccines and then next steps?

Hey Madmama, how did your advising appointment? Were they clear on why you didn't get in?

Hey Madmama, how did your advising appointment? Were they clear on why you didn't get in?

This was the explaination-

Each completed class is 2.3 points- I only have around 9 points there.

My GPA was 3.2 and my score was 75-- but they choose people differently-

2nd-- don't believe people's Teas scores. I asked her why would anyone brag about a lower score than mine? Meaning I had someone with a 68 and AP2 remaining get in over me on a GPA. That's not right. She had absolutely no answer.

Told me since my GPA is going down a tenth with my B in AP1 to get the 76.

I don't really think it's a matter of anyone bragging about getting a lower score. As someone that received a lower score than you, I don't really think it's fair to technically be shaming those that got into the program with a lower score, as everyone has worked equally as hard, regardless of the outcome. With a program with such competitive entry as JJC, every bit counts and is taken into consideration. When one applicant has an A in one of the prerequisites and the other applicant has a B, or a C, that can make all the difference and be the deciding factor - regardless of how each portion is weighted. There isn't much room for error, and even though the TEAS is weighted more than GPA, the GPA is still considered and makes an impact.
