Johnston Community College 2010 and TEAS

U.S.A. North Carolina

So what do you think that minimum score would be to get into Johnston Community College ADN program for 2010? I did just ok on my TEAS. I may have about 95 points total. But I scored 87% on the TEAS with a score of 83.5. One of my friends talked to admissions and she mentioned that in order to be competitive this year you MUST have scored atleast an 80. Also I am wondering when to expect letters of admission...or rejection....I am hoping to hear sooooon after the May 15th deadline to be on the Nurse Aid registry.

I am pretty sure I have the right instructor. I have had comparative anatomy and animal physiology for my bio degree, i just dont have HUMAN anatomy and physiology, so I am hoping a lot of the material overlaps. I am going to go get my sticker and ID next week. I also want to work on getting the text books. I know there are websites where I can get books cheaper. I got my CNA II textbook for about 20 dollars cheaper than what the bookstore was selling it for. I think I can get mt A&P book from my neighbor.

I also want to check in with financial aid, too.

It is so nice to have the time to get everything done before school starts in the Fall.

I went by financial aid after nursing orientation Wednesday. I applied online and have already started the process. The woman I spoke to was extremely nice and helpful. She told me to start the process immediately because they have a lot of applicants. I also went by the bookstore and received a print out of the required texts. I have started the process of comparing prices. When I purchased my A&P I saved a ton of money by purchasing online.

I hope my errands at school go better this week than last week!!! One of the computers was down in Fin. Aid, so I couldn't get that completed (I did it at home and have it ready). I ran out of time to go to bookstore and the other stuff we can't do until it gets closer to start of school. How did you do on book search??

I have my Dr. appt. Sat. Hope that is not too big of a headache.

I still have not finished comparing books. I have been busy with several different things. I am still waiting for one of my titer results ( measles & mumps). The other titer results have been returned so I do not understand the delay. Hopefully I will hear back from financial aid by month's end. I had to fill out a verification form. Now I just have to play the waiting game. I would like to be able to get my books as soon as possible so I can begin studying.

Have you been reading a lot of the posts on this website?? The people here seem to think we are never going to get jobs and they almost seem to resent new students. I hope it is not as bad as they make it seem.

I have read the post and they can be a bit discouraging, however I am not going to let pessimism prevent me from pursuing my nursing degree. The economy is awful right now and unfortunately has had a negative effect on every job sector, however that will change. I am an older student and I have seen recessions before. Nurses will always be needed. The population is aging and health care costs are rising. Nurses will soon be in more demand than ever before. All storms eventually pass. You just have to wait it out.:nurse:

I got the book list today and, for one of the bundles, it was actually more to buy them separate. I am probably going to just bite the bullet and buy them at the bookstore. Too time consuming to make sure I have the right editions.

Today was kind of a waste, don't you think? I didn't get out of there until after 12;30. I have kids and thank goodness the babysitter was flexible and hubby picked them up late (which of course I will have to pay for).

I totally agree that yesterday was handled poorly.I have a five year old so I know about the child care situation. I arrived home about 12:30 and I live about ten minutes from the college. I dread the parking situation once school starts. I am going to arrive at least thirty minutes early in order to ensure a good spot. I am waiting to hear from financial aid. Hopefully I will be situated by the end of the month. Have you gotten your uniform yet? I am very happy that the pants are not white!

I just turned my financial aid paperwork in yesterday. I have borrowed a lot of money already, they will make it work :) I wouldn't worry abou that too much.

I am going to wait a little for uniforms, I am getting some money later this month and I'll use that. I am VERY glad we don't have to wear white pants.

After talking to some of the people there, I think I am going to apply at the hospital. I am doing home health and it might be better to have hospital exp. when I try to get a job when I am done. I am working in job apps and resumes today. Fun LOL

I would love to work at the hospital but I really have an ideal job right now. I too work in home health during the weekend on third shift. Most people would hate this schedule but its ideal for me and my family. I only have one client and work almost thirty hours. This leaves my schedule open for the entire week. I can spend time with my husband and kids , do homework, and study. I would at some point like to work at the hospital. Networking is important and can definitely assist a student in job placement after school. I also love the hospital environment.

I am SOOO sore today!!! Got all my poking done yesterday: TB test (which she missed and it bled terribly under the skin), all my titers drawn and my Tdap. I should have everthing mid-week. I know we need to go get the paperwork fro drug testing. I hope they have it soon. I am going to call Wed.
