Johnston Community College 2010 and TEAS

U.S.A. North Carolina

So what do you think that minimum score would be to get into Johnston Community College ADN program for 2010? I did just ok on my TEAS. I may have about 95 points total. But I scored 87% on the TEAS with a score of 83.5. One of my friends talked to admissions and she mentioned that in order to be competitive this year you MUST have scored atleast an 80. Also I am wondering when to expect letters of admission...or rejection....I am hoping to hear sooooon after the May 15th deadline to be on the Nurse Aid registry.

I already had one scheduled for June 19. I think other than the passport photos, I have everything else. I am curious about the new uniforms. I didn't mind the old ones and I have plenty of white pants from CNA I and CNA II.

Oh, I have to go get IDs done.

PS, even 2 clinical days, that is more than 25 at a time. I wonder how they keep track. We only had 15 in CNA II and it was rough in the hospital. We looked like a school of fish. LOL little clones. It dosd sound like we will be split up between 5 or so facilities.

I am so glad that we are getting new uniforms. I hate the blue smock that the students have worn in the past. I wonder where I will be assigned. I hope its close to my home.

We went to one of the local nursing homes and the hospital there for CNA stuff. I'd like the chance to go somewhere new.

I also went to a local hospital and nursing home during my CNA clinicals. I've been working as a CNA in home health care for nearly a year. I work third shift on weekends. I love my job. Unfortunately, I will have to stop working Sunday nights, but I will still work twenty hours a week.

hey girls...i am trying to get into Johnston for the 2011 year for nursing and I was trying to figures what kind of scores you girls got and if you got accepted or not...for the ranking sheet and the TEAS test....i will have taking all the classes but a&p II and Eng 112 and psy 241...but i have a's in all the other classes with teas scores of 84..do i have a chance of getting in?

where did you end up going for school then?

Hi Megan. To be competitive at JCC, I recommend that you finish all your prerequisites. Nearly everyone who was accepted this year completed all of those classes. There are a few exceptions, but not many. I am sure JCC will post a cut off score for the TEAS. Our class was the first one to take the test at the school so we did not have a cut off score. My point tally was 111.4, however I finished A&P this spring which brought my final points to 118.4.

I had an 86.5 on the TEAS (total points 108.5). I had all my pre-reqs but AP I & II and PSY 241; all As in the others and I got in this year, so I would think you have a decent chance, although, as far as I know, they have a certain amount ot Nursing slots, whether they are 1st or 2nd year. With so many graduating last year, that gave us a better chance of getting in this year (are allowed about 100 and there are 55ish of us this fall)

I already have a bachelors degree, so I got all my other courses a few years ago. I would get those other classes done and you should have a good shot at getting in next year.

Will you have to retake the TEAS to apply next year?

I agree you do have a good shot if you finish all those classes. Your course work will be lighter also. mmc51264 are you taking A&P this summer?

I couldnt get into it!!! I had surgery the morning of registration and I had a friend go. She went at 5:30 and it was too late (my neighbor, who I didn't know was going to be there, went at MIDNIGHT-he got in LOL). I am going to have to take A&P I and II fall/spring.

OMG!!! I heard how difficult it was to register for Summer classes this year. Thankfully we will not have to go through that entire process this Fall. I despise waiting in long lines just to be told that class is filled. Good luck to you taking A&P along with your nursing courses. It is doable but difficult. I did have several in my A&P classes who were doing the same thing. You will probably want to pull your hair out at some point but you will do just fine. Be sure to take the instructor I mentioned earlier in these postings. He really is a great teacher. I hope your surgery went well. I just received my physical yesterday and completed all my titers. I still have to get my pictures and campus identification. Last year I did not have a campus ID or parking decal LO! I guess I will be "legit" for 2010-2011.
