Johns Hopkins University BSN/MSN Fall 2011

Published

Greetings Everyone!

I know this is early to make a thread for the Fall 2011 Hopkins Applicants! But still, it is better to start getting ready than waiting at the last minute! I highly suggest everyone start getting your letters of recommendations, and just hide it until you are ready to apply. I will be applying and submitting my application around September 2010 as an early decision applicant for Fall 2011.

I have to finish up Anatomy and Physiology I and II, Developmental Psychology, and one more chemistry class this coming Summer 2010. During the Fall of 2010 and Spring 2011, I will be finishing up just general requirements like history, Microbiology, English Composition, Statistics, some foreign languages, and humanities (elective classes).

I will be applying for the BSN Traditional Program considering I do not have a degree, thus, I am not qualified to apply for the accelerated program. I'm really excited about this.

I will only be applying to UPenn and Johns Hopkins University for my BSN traditional program. If I do not get accepted, I will be attending my current university's school of nursing. I am already in the university's nursing program, but I don't start clinical preceptorship until 2 years from now.

I will graduate May 2013 regardless where I go. Either JHU or UPenn or stay at my current university.

If I will be accepted at either JHU or UPenn, then definitely I will be attending those schools! I love nursing research, and I want to learn more about research and providing quality care to our patients.

We will see how it will go. I have six months until I submit my application to both schools. Remember time is running fast.

Hope everyone are doing well on their pre-requisites! Good luck to all!

Feel free to post around so we can help each other for Fall 2011! I've read the thread for the JHU Fall 2010. I've noticed everyone in that thread got accepted, and some waitlisted! Its a good sign!

Have a wonderful day!

Jasgop

Oh my goodness, I am going seriously bonkers. I hope we hear back this week! I wish good luck to all of you still in purgatory like myself. I am going to try to relax a bit in the meantime. :uhoh3:

I have a lot of time of my hands and an equal amount of anticipation (ok, anxiety) so I just went through the last year and a half of threads... This is when the admits were, in EST.

Main observations I can see: 1) The forum was a lot more active last year, 2) It takes two or three business days to make the calls, 3) They call pretty much the day after they finish decisions (if they did indeed finish on Friday, they will be calling soon), and 4) They make a few calls in the morning but they mostly do it in the afternoon.

Boto, not that I'm not appreciative, but....

Get out of the house! ;)

what if there isn't cell phone reception out there?!

During the online chat on Friday, the admissions people said all decisions had been made and some letters went out Friday and the rest will be going out today. Mary also said all applicants will be notified by mail.

As opposed to receiving a phone call? Or admitted students will receive both the letter and a phone call?

Someone had asked a question about how admitted students will be notified (phone call/ email/ mail) and their response was that all admitted students would be notified by mail and they didn't mention anything about making phone calls. When I was scheduling my interview in January they said that phone calls would be made, however it seems like they have changed their system and are now doing mail.

good to know! still nothing in the mail....

I wasn't on the chat so I'm not exactly sure what was stated there. However, I called the office today and can confirm that decisions are not completed yet. Some decisions have been sent out, but by no means all -- they're still in the midst of it. Admits will receive phone calls and everyone will find out later this week or next. March 4th is admit day.

Thanks to the people that responded to me previously! Glad to know I wasn't way off in posting here.

I don't think I'm getting in, though.:crying2: I got notification of a completed application on January 13, two days before the deadline. I applied for regular decision, traditional BS/MSN and was NOT offered an interview. If decisions are made, this means they made them WITHOUT interviewing me, and I thought that was a required part of the process.

I did talk with Mary briefly (she called) in order to discuss my volunteer work, as I had made a mistake and not included previous volunteer work because I figured that they would need a point of contact for those previous jobs, and I couldn't seem to get a hold of anyone. We had a brief conversation where she told me I was okay and that I was still being considered. Now nothing else, and decisions are out. I'm feeling bad...and a lil foolish!:smackingf

Hey DiamondCoffee - no need to feel foolish or start worrying yet. It sounds like you applied for the traditional BSN program and I'm pretty sure that they are only confirming admissions decisions for accelerated students. The timeline for interviews, decisions, and admitted students day are all different if you applied regular for the traditional track.

I havent checked into this forum in awhile so I apologize for the delay but I wanted to mention: I never received a call Dec 15 (the day a lot of people were accepted) and after 10 days of not hearing anything I called and they said that I had been accepted and that they called and left me a message on 12/15. I never got a message though and they we're really nice and apologetic! I decided to defer my acceptance until next year and they just e-mailed me last week confirming that I had not sent in my deposit which means I am sure they are still looking at applicaitons and seeing how many spots are open! Good luck-I hope it works out for everyone!
