Johns Hopkins New Grad Nurse Residency

U.S.A. Maryland

Published

I am a new grad e nurse who was lucky enough to get hired at the main campus. I will be starting my new grad residency in May. Is anyone else out there starting with me?

Or if you have gone through the JHH residency program I would love to hear about your experiences. ?

Hi,

I am a new grad at Johns Hopkins (going into the PICU!) relocating from out of state and I was wondering if anyone found a good way to find roommates?

Thanks!

Check out Johns Hopkins Medicine | Off Campus Housing Search Follow the instructions for setting up a guest account. You'll have to email the administrator to gain access. Lots of Hopkins people post on the roommate message board there. Good luck!

I'm highly interested in working for the hospital, if anyone could you please send me a nursing recruiter email. I'm also have an associate degree but Im planning to bridge to the bsn next year.

Mermaid, Are you enrolled in a BSN program? Do they require you to get your BSN within a certain time frame?

I'm just wondering because I have my associates degree and am interested in applying.

I was already accepted into a BSN at the time of my interview, so it was a non-issue. They require you to be enrolled in a BSN program within 1 year of hire. They need proof for your employee file so I brought my acceptance letter to the nurse recruiters at my interview, and brought another copy to my unit manager later.

Hi everyone! I recently got an offer to work in their peds department after graduation! I was wondering how the residency program has been going for you guys?

Since its been several weeks since the initial post, I wondered how everyone liked the hospital/dept they were in? I'm considering applying to Hopkins and University of Maryland Medical Center and Georgetown (D.C). I'm applying a few different states :)

Hi Everyone,

I'm also hired in Zayed 11 East (Ortho and Trauma unit) as a new graduate nurse. I'm moving from CA to MD and will start working in 1st week of March. Any advice in terms of finding a place to live. Is having a room mate is a good idea? I also need to find a RN - BSN school, any recommendations? Although I don't mind online school, I prefer in class. Thank you!

Bryan

Hey Bryan, congrats on your job offer! I actually work right above there now on 12 West. I don't start on my new unit until June. I'm currently at Associates to Bachelors student at Towson University. But there are many other schools like Stevenson, University of Maryland, Frostburg and Salisbury just to name a few.

Hi Shalbal,

Thank you for your response. I will definitely look at these schools. I'm looking forward to start on Fall Semester so I better start looking for application deadline. How do you like working at JHH? I'm so excommunicated to start!!

Bryan

You are definitely very brave to be traveling across the country for a job, I don't think I could do it! There was actually another forum created for all the 2017 JHH employees that you could join, might help you feel a little less excommunicated. The name is "Johns Hopkins Hospital Nurse Residency 2017". I love it at JHH! I have learned so much as a tech and look forward to carrying that knowledge into my nursing career. The staff is great and so willing to teach you everything they know. And I've only heard great things about their residency program so I'm looking forward to that.

Hey Brian,

I just got hired onto the Neuroscience Unit in the Zayed building at JHH. I'm also relocating from California. I won't start until April, but I'll be sure to fill you in on any relocation information I find as I start my transition.
