Johns Hopkins MSN Entry into Nursing Spring 2018

Published

Hello!

I haven't seen any threads yet about the Johns Hopkins accelerated MSN program for Spring of 2018 so I thought I would start one to chat with other hopefuls like myself!

Also, if anyone who has previously been accepted into the program, any and all advice would be greatly appreciated! For now, I have a few questions:

-Does anyone know if all parts of the application are weighed equally or which ones they place the most emphasis on?

- I took the GRE once and I scored in the 82nd percentile for verbal reasoning (score: 159), 93rd percentile for analytical writing (score: 5), and the 55th percentile in quantitative reasoning (score: 154  ) Should I retake it to improve my math score? My fear is that I'll take it again and do worse!

- What is their acceptance rate?

- Any good tips for the personal statements? I'm finding that it's very difficult to articulate why I want to be a nurse without sounding cheesy.

- Where else are y'all applying?

I think that's all for now! I look forward to chatting with everyone and wish you all the best of luck!

Hi all,

I was just accepted today into the program. I had applied late July and had everything verified early August and I just found out. Make sure to check your "clutter" folder, as my decision was not in my inbox.

Best of luck to everyone!

I will keep my fingers crossed for you!! I think a lot of people do not take the GRE anymore. Also, NursingCAS will calculate your GPA, so it might be higher than you expect. So you never know what decision they'll make. I wish you the best!!!!

@yjj152251 did you get an email about the scholarship along with your acceptance letter? Or was it part of your mailed packet? This question goes out to everyone who received any kind of scholarship - do they let you know if you got a scholarship as soon as you get the decision email or does that come later on? Also, if anyone knows for sure: what is the total cost of the *entire* program? Strictly tuition + fees.

Hi, msmsn! I received a phone call a couple days after I received my acceptance email. The email does not mention scholarships, so they will call you and let you know. Also, it will be in your package you receive in the mail. This link has the tuition and fees: MSN: Entry into Nursing Practice | School of Nursing at Johns Hopkins University. I hope this helps!!

Hi, msmsn! I am not sure if my other post was posted because I included a web link...I received a phone call a few days after my acceptance email, and was told I received a scholarship. She said they do not include scholarship information on the email. You will receive a phone call from admissions if you got a scholarship, and it's included in your acceptance package that you'll get in the mail.

Just estimating, but the total for one year including fees and cost of living is around 62K. The program is five consecutive semesters to it's about 150K. On the Johns Hopkins webpage for the MSN Entry into Nursing it breaks it down for you. It's a little confusing because they post yearly tuition, not per semester. I hope this helps!

CHolle - thank you so much! That is super helpful. That's about what I got too, as far as total tuition goes. I guess I was hoping to hear a lower number lol. Thank you for the thorough response! I just got accepted and trying to figure out the bottom line cost of the program. I'll wait for the phone call/packet since it's probably highly individual.

Congrats!! msmsn :-)

can somebody tell me exactly how many months long the program is? i feel like an idiot for asking this, but i haven't been able to find a definitive answer online.

Thank you so much, MaleNurse2533 :) have you heard anything yet?

Msmsn- that's so wonderful! Congratulations! I am looking forward to meeting you! Have you spoke with financial aid? They helped me a lot. Congrats again!

Hi, rnhopeful24. It's five consecutive semesters starting in January. So, about 18 months...The summer semesters are shorter.

Thank you! I'm still in a bit of shock, but needless to say, very excited. I look forward to meeting you too! I'm sure it will be a wonderful cohort. I'll give Financial Aid a call once I receive my packet or any scholarship-related info.
