Hello, I am happy to chat with prospective students as I am finishing my 1st semester from the JHU prelicensure MSN program. I am a part of Cohort 6. I am unsure of how to message folks directly on this site. My name is Olutope O. I'd you have LinkedIn, and me a message there. Pretty sure I am the only one with that name at JHU.

@Aquamonkey317 I am not sure if you'll see this- but if you do- I would love to hear how your first semester has gone! I applied for Spring 2019 admission, and I am anxiously awaiting the early decisions to start rolling out.

@Amc510, My name is Adam. I am in the same cohort as Olutope (what's up lady!?). We are currently in our second semester. The first two semesters are the hardest with the second semester being harder than the first. But it's worth it! It's a fantastic program and a really great community. If you have questions feel free to ask!

Thanks Adam!

I remember them mentioning in the online info sessions that the schedule isn't too crazy, in terms of nights and weekends. Have you found that to be the case? I have 3 kiddos at home, so I am trying to get a sense of what kind of support my husband and I would need if I get in.

How have clinicals been so far? Do you feel supported in that setting?

Also- did you already live in Baltimore, or did you move for the program? I live in Washington state, so if I get in I will obviously need to relocate. If you relocated, did you find housing a challenge?

Thank you!!

My wife and I moved here from Colorado. We flew out in November and spent a weekend house hunting. We found a townhouse that weekend. I recommend using HotPads and Zillow. There is a JHU housing page on Facebook.

Clinicals can be at any of the hospitals in the area (can be upwards of an hour drive each way). A lot of students have gotten away without a car, my wife and I share one. I have been 10000000% supported by both teaching faculty and my Clinical Instructors, the one I have now is by far one of the best nurses I have had the pleasure of working with. With that said, Nursing School is tough no matter where you go and it will consume every part of your life. There are a lot of people with kids in the program so you will at least have people to connect with that are in the same shoes.

Thank you! I am glad to hear you feel so supported. I have been on Zillow a ton, but haven't tried hotpads. I think we will probably fly in for the weekend to look at our housing options when the time comes. Coming from the Seattle area, I am thinking it will be much easier to find something!

Thanks again for your responses!
