Johns Hopkins Fall Entry Accelerated BSN (2012)

U.S.A. Maryland

Published

Hello!

I applied for the early acceptance BSN for the fall 2012 cohort. Has anyone else applied early acceptance and heard back yet? I am anxiously awaiting their decision!

Thanks!

On another note, definitely don't get discouraged if they don't call you exactly on the 15th. They do a really thorough job on evaluating each applicant :)

Thanks for the heads up! If you don't me asking, how has your time at JHU been? It's always interesting to hear from current students.

Hello everyone,

I hope you guys had a great Christmas. Has anyone else heard back from the school yet?

Is anyone out there?! :)

I went to the open house on the 7th and it was great. I know I'm putting all my eggs in one basket but JHU is the only school I'm applying to for the Fall semester. I hope they let me in. My husband and I agreed after seeing the school and talking to the students, that we will be moving to Baltimore if I get in *gulp*. Lots of change coming.

Hi Leenak,

I was not able to make it to the open house. Any interesting fact/comments you care to share? Or comments made by current students that convinced you that JHU is the best school for you? Thank you.

Good luck to you!

Some highlights:

The classes, for the first semester at least, are 8 to 5, Monday through Friday.

Many of the students don't have cars and are able to use public transportation to get to clinicals.

Once you are in the school, they will make every effort to ensure you pass. If you are doing poorly in a class, you may be pulled aside or even assigned a tutor.

Once you are a student of JHU, you are a full student. This means you can take any classes that JHU offers. Whether it is a language class or an art class.

They have a spanish for healthcare workers class at the school (I really want to take this, my spanish is a bit rusty).

They have tons of international travel opportunities and are looking to add more. You can do a 7 week rotation in another country but there seem to be shorter opportunities as well. They are in the process of looking at some winter break ones.

They are greatly invested in the underserved population. I knew this but I think hearing it from them multiple times, seeing the pictures on the wall, etc really drove it home for me. This is my primary interest in going into nursing so that really seals the deal for me.

For me, its JHU or bust. If they don't accept me, I'll cry a little, dust myself off and apply again. I'll also be applying to other schools if they don't let me in.

Thank you so much for the feedback. JHU is my top choice as well and hearing your comments have only fortified my interest!

Hello leenak,

I agree with ljr1 that the feedback you mentioned from the orientation was very helpful. Thanks!
