Johns Hopkins Entry into Nursing (MSN) Fall 2021

Published

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to start a thread for the Johns Hopkins Entry into Nursing MSN program for August 2021 applicants. I started my application this week, aiming to get it in well before the November 1st deadline . Anyone else??

Those of you that were accepted would you mind sharing stats? Trying not to worry but also just looking for comparisons to maybe calm my nerves!

Did you just get the email or did it get sent a couple of hours ago? Trying to see if they’re still sending out decisions today!

No I got it a few hours ago.

OMG congrats!! are you now rethinking UCLA? Such a great conundrum to be in!

Thank you! It’s definitely swaying my decision somewhat. But there is a major con to go to JHU for me..it’s in BALTIMORE LOL. I’m trying to picture myself in Baltimore for 2.5 years..

Haha between LA and Baltimore, I know what I would choose (LA-duh. Im a big city person NYC/SF). But in all honesty Baltimore is beautiful and rich with culture. I completed my undergrad at a school in MD, not Baltimore specifically but we would leave campus to party (ha! not doing that anymore), hang out, and explore the area and will say that the Baltimore area and its surrounding areas are worth exploring!

Thank you for the input! I know nothing about Baltimore and tbh I applied to JHU mostly to see if I can get in ?. I have always been a big city person as well, so Baltimore for me is a completely uncharted area.

Does anyone know what is the total tuition cost for JHU? I tried to find the information somewhere but it's very hard to get the whole information. This is what I know so far about JHU:

-It's 2.25 to 2.5 years program (5 semesters, I am assuming one of them is Summer)

-~$1750 per unit and you need to finish 72 units to graduate so: $126K total

Is this correct?

A huge congratulations to all of you that got your acceptances on Friday!!! You all are incredible!!

I have not received anything yet haha. Would any of you mind sharing when around which day you submitted your application and had it verified on nursingcas? Thank you!

Waiting to hear back from nursing schools be like

Does anybody know the total cost of tuition for the whole program? On there website it says the first year is 63,000. Im not sure if that includes the third semester though.

Quoted from an admissions officer: "Full time students are only charged for credits up to 12 hours. Example: 12 credits x $1,738 = $20,856. 13 credits and above would still be $20,856. The cost per credit could increase during your program."

They did mention the total estimated cost to be around $107,000 for the 2021-2022 school year (the tuition increases by 3% per year). Currently, the cost per credit is $1,738. Accounting for a 3% increase, the cost per credit for the upcoming year would be $1,790. The corresponding cost per semester would therefore be $21,480 [ = $1,790 x 12]. Given that there are 5 semesters in the program, the total cost comes out to be $107,400 [ = $21,480 x 5].

When they refer to the "first year" on their website, that refers to 3 semesters (Fall 2021, Spring 2022, and Summer 2022). Mathematically, it works out: $21,480 x 3 = $64,440.

Slight correction to this calculation: I forgot to account for the estimated 3% tuition increase for the final 2 semesters (Fall 2022 & Spring 2023)! The total tuition cost for Fall 2021 entry students would probably be closer to $108,689 [ = ($21,480 x 3) + ($22,124 x 2)].
