Johns Hopkins Entry into Nursing (MSN) Fall 2021

Published

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to start a thread for the Johns Hopkins Entry into Nursing MSN program for August 2021 applicants. I started my application this week, aiming to get it in well before the November 1st deadline . Anyone else??

Don't worry peeps! Remember that whatever happens will likely be meant to be. Also, you can always reapply if this is your top choice. I did that, and I still haven't heard anything though I applied to the later deadline so that I could fix my application. Just try and relax, go on a walk to clear your head, or do some online yoga which is my personal favorite. You got this! You have all worked so hard to get here. Keep the faith. You will all make great nurses no matter if JHU gets you there or not.

Just out of curiosity, did anyone who received an acceptance have any prereqs in progress?

Thanks and good luck to us waiters and big congrats to everyone who has gotten in!

I received my acceptance this morning and had physiology still in progress at the time my application was verified (completed the course in mid-December 2020, submitted my app for JHU November 1). NursingCAS just reverified me with the updated prerequisite like a week or two ago, so I don’t think it was a major factor in their decision.

How many students do they accept per cohort?

160 seats

Here are some snippets from yesterday's online chat:

Admin: "There are 160 approximately spots for the fall and 130 for the Spring - acceptance 40 - 44% acceptance rate"

Student: "With 160 seats, are you accepting 80 students each from the early and priority deadlines, if applicable?"

Admin: "It is not that clear cut. We accept more than 160 people because not all accepted choose to come. What might be of more hep to you is to know that we have an approximate acceptance rate of 40%."

Student: "Did you find there were a high amount of applicants for the Fall 2021 MSN Entry into nursing start? Are you still expecting about a 40% admission rate (I believe that was mentioned in another session)?"

Admin: "That is an average for us. Yes we are experiencing a higher number of applications for Fall 2021, but we are still in the middle of our application cycle so we don't have all information yet."

Student: "Do people who apply before the early decision deadline have a better chance at acceptance compared to those who apply by the priority deadline?"

Admin: "Not necessarily. The early decision is more about timing of your decision and when you find out then being more competitive."

Admin: "Full time students are only charged for credits up to 12 hours. Example:12 credits x $1738=$20856. 13 credits and above would still be $20856. The cost per credit could increase during your program."

Student: "Is there any benefit to applying early for the merit scholarships or are they all considered at the same time?"

Admin: "We make sure that there is the same chance of scholarships regardless of the deadline you apply for!"

I hope it's OK to post this here (and hopefully someone finds this information helpful). Best of luck to everyone still waiting for early decision results!!

Thank you for the updates. It is very helpful!

Hello! First time poster here but I have been following this forum for a while after submitting my app~ I got my acceptance along with some scholarship info yesterday around 10am PST! I am however declining the offer of admission so hopefully this will open a spot for one of you! Good luck everyone!

For those of us still waiting, look like we’re done checking email for today and continue tomorrow!

I decided to go to Emory for the AMSN program because my end goal is to be an NP and that program allows me to graduate as an NP rather than a CNL ?

Okay decision definitely isn't coming in tonight, I'm seriously starting to think I'm part of the Friday batch. I mean someone has to be in the Friday group right? talk to you all tomorrow and fingers crossed we get SOMETHING ???????? goodnight!
