Hi Everyone,

I wanted to start a thread for the Johns Hopkins Entry into Nursing MSN program for August 2021 applicants. I started my application this week, aiming to get it in well before the November 1st deadline . Anyone else??

eekkk I know! I have some patient care as a medical scribe, but ended up in clinical operations over the last few years. I forgot how much I really liked and appreciated face to face interaction when it comes to patient care, and believe that nursing is the best way to get the best of both worlds, especially the holistic care RNs and APRNs provide. How about you?

Question: did anyone answer all three questions or just pick two of the three? Does anyone know if there is any benefit/disadvantage of doing all three questions? Sorry if this was already asked and answered in advance!

Thanks All!

Hey! I had emailed JHU's to ask this exact question.

Hi all!

Did everyone keep their essays at 300 words exactly?

Hello!

And not really I almost did 450.. I asked about it and they said it does not matter. They do not count the words at all, but try to keep it as close to 300 as you can.

Hi! I got accepted for Spring entry and I applied on the last possible day you could apply. I was surprised I got in the first time because I didn’t make the early decision deadline. My recommendation is to follow the instructions. Two essays, 300 words or less. They want to ensure that you can 1. Follow instructions and 2. Be clear and concise in your responses so that your “why” stands out.

Good luck!

For the transcript entry section, how did you all categorize freshman, sophomore, junior, senior for undergrad?  I did 5 years in undergrad, and nursing CAS told me the following that status is based on credits, 0-30 is freshman, 30-60 is sophomore, 60-90 is junior, and 90+ is senior. However, when I checked the nursing CAS website it says this: in general, four-year students should list one year per designation and five-year students should list their last two years as senior.

Just wanted to check if anyone else followed this?

G'day everyone,

Do all applicants need to send official transcripts or is it only for the lot that are chosen into the program?

Cheers.

Hi!

We all have to send our official transcripts through Nursing CAS to be able to apply! it is a pain and it takes a long time, so I recommend you to start as soon as you can.

Hello!

I've already sent my official transcripts to Nursing CAS and they have been verified. Do you reckon I would also need to submit them to JH directly? If so, that's heaps of transcripts wouldn't you say.

How can you tell if your official transcripts have been verified? I submitted mine but cannot seem to find the section on Nursing CAS. To be honest, I struggle with that website quite a bit ?

@futurenurseeliza you should be able to tell if your transcript has been received by looking at the “colleges attended” section under academic history (at the very bottom of the page). the application itself won’t get verified until you submit it! hope this helps a little!!
