Johns Hopkins CRNA 2021

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Hey everyone! Didn't see a thread for the Johns Hopkins CRNA program starting in May '21. I think this would be a useful way to stay in touch. Application is due today, so I think feedback is right around the corner.

When I called to set up my interview last month, they gave me interview date options through 11/22. Good luck to everyone with upcoming interviews! Hopefully we’ll hear shortly after the 22nd!

I was told next week is the last week of interviews and offers will be mid December and to definitely let them know if you’re waiting for decisions from Hopkins but already have another offer from a different school. Looks like they were calling about decisions last year from thanksgiving through December.

I do have an offer from another school, but I’m waiting to hear from Hopkins. I was debating whether or not to reach out.

Well last year the application deadline was a month later than it was this year. I was put on the waitlist last time. Hearing a few different things in terms of when we will hear but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. When I hear “By the holidays” to me that means before Thanksgiving but maybe that was just their goal or best case scenario? Waiting is the worst part, amiiiriiiiight

They might have had more applicants this year, so maybe taking longer, who knows LOL. During my interview, the faculty said mid December ? Hopefully, we all hear something by thanksgiving.

Same here. They also told me to reach out in this situation at the end of my interview, but it does seem a little awkward and pushy to do so haha. Don't want to come off inappropriate. Not sure what I'm going to do.

The faculty seemed to come off as understanding and caring. I don’t think they’d find it inappropriate that you’d ask, especially if you explain that you have an offer with a deadline. I’m sure Hopkins doesn’t want to lose a great applicant because of that.

I feel like those who were extended offers at other schools should just place the deposit there and wait to hear back when final decision are made, especially because interviews are still being conducted. Applying and matriculating into a CRNA program is expensive in general; and in the realm of things, what's another $1000, when you'll be spending $100K+ on your education? In my opinion, I agree with you @PICUNurse94, I haven't and won't reached out because I feel that it's a little inappropriate and pushy. But like I said, it's just my opinion. Good luck everyone! ?

I agree. I’ve decided I’m just going to wait and let it play out the way it’s supposed to. I definitely don’t want to appear pushy. Best of luck to everyone! ?

LOL so it’s more appropriate to tell a school that you’ll be attending, paying the deposit, and holding a spot for you, when you plan on possibly rescinding, and possibly screwing someone who’s on the waitlist, rather than being honest? Seems kind of unethical to me, especially for a profession that values integrity. It’s a small community, and these faculty members know each other ??‍♀️but you do what you gotta do for yourself I guess ?

Why LOL? Then deny the other school... What's the point of needing to know "prior to a deadline" if you don't don't want to go to that school anyway? And that's the literal purpose of a waitlist... but OK

Oh man this escalated quickly. It’s tricky either way.

Regardless, I hope we all find out about admissions soon! I know the wait is getting to everyone. Good luck guys! We got this!
