Hi all - maybe I am jumping the gun, but has anyone else begun working on their applications for Summer/Fall 2010 admission?
I plan on applying for direct entry to JHU, UCSF, Yale, Columbia, and Vanderbilt. With the exception of UCSF's 9/1 deadline, the rest seem to be due between 11/1 and 12/1. Although UCSF has the closest deadline, I am stressing the most about the essays for JHU. Anyone started them yet?
Also, does anyone plan on attending the open house that JHU is having in September? I would love to go, but I am in California, so I have to decide if it is worth the $$$. I am thinking I might be better off saving the money to fly out for the interview (positive thinking here).
Anyway, I would love to compare notes with anyone applying, or anyone who applied last year.
Thanks and good luck!
I just called and spoke to Mary O-Rourke. I'm in!!! Weeeee! Apparently, the admissions committee made their decisions last night. The financial aid office was supposed to wait until the day after the calls were made to send out those emails but for whatever reason they sent them early. Congratulations to all who got accepted!
Hi Everyone!
I got a call this morning, and I'm in for ABSN/MSN/MPH. So excited!!!
So just a question - how many of you applied for the Merit scholarship? I applied, and I'm dying to know where I stand . . . even though I know it's super competitive! In general, I'm dying to know about financial aid, and it seems like we're not going to know until the last minute (the financial aid deadline is March 1st, and deposits are due March 8th). Do you think we'll have to make deposits before we know our financial aid status? I'm stressed about the cost of JHU, and financial aid is very much on my mind. Anyone else in the same boat?
Congratulations all!
Marinara, you heard about the MPH as well? I was an Early Decision applicant and got my BSN/MSN acceptance, but still no word on the MPH yet. I was told last week that it would be a few more weeks, anyway.
I know for ED apps, they sent out a preliminary financial aid form so that we could get an idea of what we would qualify for. It might be worth calling the office and asking about that. From what I hear, financial aid decisions won't be made until at least late March.
I called Admissions to tell them I got the email from financial services, but haven't received an acceptance call. She told me that financial services "got ahead of themselves" and that admissions would be making acceptance calls through the end of today and into tomorrow. she told me to wait for my call and didn't confirm if i was accepted or not, which is kind of annoying, but oh well.
so, in case there are others who are still waiting, try not to fret!
I'm confused about what's going on!
I received an email earlier today but, I still haven't gotten a phone call. Late in the day, I called the school and they wouldn't tell me my admissions decision over the phone. They said that admissions officers were in the middle of making calls but, financial aid got their wires crossed and they weren't supposed to send that email. After talking to her, I was worried that they just sent that email to everyone by accident. Did anyone NOT get the email?
Based on what javabean and Frances said, it sounds like I'm in...? It would be nice if they called me tomorrow so that I don't have to wait until next week to find out.
If they actually call me tomorrow, it's going to feel so anti-climatic!
hey abbie grace
the same thing happened to me- when i called admissions they told me they were making acceptance calls today and tomorrow and said i should wait to hear. i ended up getting my call at 4:45pm, as i was leaving work!
i would be shocked if you got the email by accident. i think you're in :) they probably just didn't get to your call yet. hang in there!

Hi Everyone! I'm new to the forum =). I applied regular decision to the ABSN program and also received that financial aid email stating "Welcome to The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing! We are pleased that you have chosen our school for your nursing education." I am freaking out! I don't know what to make of this since no one has called me yet. I'm tempted to call the admissions office and ask them if this email means anything. Ahhhh!
