Johns Hopkins BSN/MSN Fall 2010 Anyone?

Published

Hi all - maybe I am jumping the gun, but has anyone else begun working on their applications for Summer/Fall 2010 admission?

I plan on applying for direct entry to JHU, UCSF, Yale, Columbia, and Vanderbilt. With the exception of UCSF's 9/1 deadline, the rest seem to be due between 11/1 and 12/1. Although UCSF has the closest deadline, I am stressing the most about the essays for JHU. Anyone started them yet?

Also, does anyone plan on attending the open house that JHU is having in September? I would love to go, but I am in California, so I have to decide if it is worth the $$$. I am thinking I might be better off saving the money to fly out for the interview (positive thinking here).

Anyway, I would love to compare notes with anyone applying, or anyone who applied last year.

Thanks and good luck! :D

Is anyone applying for the Peace Corps fellows scholarship? Did you answer the six questions as a whole essay or one-by-one. Did you write the questions on the paper or just number your answers? Did you fit it on 2 pp. double spaced?

I was accepted by the BSN/MSN program, and I just find out that I need to do the background check and Pre-entrance health form by myself. I used to think that the school will at least do the background check for us.

As for the health form, I have a question, will any hospital be able to do all those immunizations? How long it takes. I came from another country and I kind of forget which immunization I did before, so I just want to know is that possible for me to finish all immnizations before the orientation?

Will my insurance cover the expenses? How much it will cost to finish all immunization?

Thanks!

congrats! when did you find out? did they send your decision in the mail? i'm waiting to hear and am so anxious!

i would imagine your insurance would cover your immunizations, but you would have to look at your policy to make sure...or call them. i don't think you need to worry about fitting in all your immunzations before the start of the program- shouldn't be a problem. but call your doctor/provider to ask about scheduling them. if you can get your immunization record to see what you have already received, that would be helpful.

thanks for your answer.

Don't worry about the application. I get my admission because I applied the early decision. I don't think they have sent out offer for regular decision applicants yet.

Be patient. As for my experience, it seems that everyone who come to this thread get accepted!!! I bet that you will, too.

Good Luck!!!

after looking back on this thread, i realized that you were probably one of the early decision folks- whoops!

thanks for the good luck!

Hi all. Just out of curiosity, does anyone have a contact at JHUSON admissions that they can reach out to and ask for an update on when decisions for Summer 2010 (regular decision) will be made? I tried to get in touch with the person I interviewed with, but was unsuccessful and the person who answers the main admissions phone gave me very general info, saying we should hear by the end of Feb at latest.

I can survive the wait, but if anyone has an "in" I'd love to have better info. Thanks!

Hope you are all weathering the wait alright!

I was recently told by two admissions people that a final decision should be expected by mid February.

hey sarabear44

I applied to the Peace Corps Fellowship program. I answered all six questions in a page and a half single spaced. I spoke with some one from Johns Hopkins and they said they are more lenient about the length. I also was told that application could be accepted up to the first of march.

oh i forget to mention that i answered them as in essay form

Hi everyone....Anyone hear anything yet? After my interview in late December, they told me that we should hear in late January...I'm getting so nervous! I guess we are supposed to get phone calls if we are accepted?

Javabean - I think in December they were probably feeling more ambitious about their timeline. I interviewed in early January and they told me that no one would hear anything until mid to late February.

I also interviewed at the end of December and was told I would hear by end of Jan/beginning of Feb, but that looks like its not going to happen! From past posts, it seems we will be notified the old fashioned way, via telephone or a letter in the mail.

good luck!
