Johns Hopkins BSN/MSN Fall 2010 Anyone?

Published

Hi all - maybe I am jumping the gun, but has anyone else begun working on their applications for Summer/Fall 2010 admission?

I plan on applying for direct entry to JHU, UCSF, Yale, Columbia, and Vanderbilt. With the exception of UCSF's 9/1 deadline, the rest seem to be due between 11/1 and 12/1. Although UCSF has the closest deadline, I am stressing the most about the essays for JHU. Anyone started them yet?

Also, does anyone plan on attending the open house that JHU is having in September? I would love to go, but I am in California, so I have to decide if it is worth the $$$. I am thinking I might be better off saving the money to fly out for the interview (positive thinking here).

Anyway, I would love to compare notes with anyone applying, or anyone who applied last year.

Thanks and good luck! :D

Congrats to everyone who has been admitted!

It seems like most people who have heard back are in the ABSN / MSN group, has anyone from the ABSN group heard back yet?

Good luck!

Looks like some ABSN people have heard too... https://allnurses.com/maryland-nurses/johns-hopins-accelerated-415567-page8.html

Also still waiting!!!!

I too remember very little of the details she told me, but I do remember her saying that accepted students day would be on March 5th. I can't wait to meet everyone!

Congratulations to everyone who is in, and good luck to all those still waiting!

I applied regular decision to the ABSN/MSN/MPH, so I will be in your shoes come February :)

I have my phone interview coming up this week . . . wish me luck!

Good luck! Be yourself and show your passion for nursing and for JHU!

Hugs of support to those of us who still haven't heard yet! It sounds like we're all located in different places around the country... Fingers crossed for all of us!

Rockstarr, I totally hear you on the speculation! I keep coming up with theories, too! :-P

Ugh...I'm in Northern Virginia and still haven't heard anything. Now, I mostly hope I get in so I can beg the admissions office to do a better job of letting people know next year!!! Presuming they are still going to be calling people tomorrow and Tuesday, I think it's incredibly messed up to spread the announcements across a weekend. It has been BRUTAL knowing that my rejection/acceptance decision is already made and some people already know!!! It's just cruel.

UGH. That being said, if I had gotten a letter/call already I might be singing a different tune. Congrats to all those accepted and chin up to those of us still waiting.

Poet,

I am also curious about the number of male applicants awarded acceptance.

It varies between 7-12%,; it's most often 10%.

We can reasonably expect 15 per cohort.

I know I have the benefit of being free from the near paralytic anxiety alot of you are experiencing, but, and I'm not preaching here, it's important at this point to surrender to the opinion that they have reasons for informing acceptees as they have been. It's almost over (the wait, not your life) and you have made it through the weekend. If nothing else, a late notice will make it that more rewarding as you fall to your knees from exhaustion and excitement. This is equally exciting for them rather than being some form of calculated sadism.:loveya:

Lets also remember the admissions committee doesn't monitor these boards, thus, as far as they're concerned none of the applicants have communicated with each other regarding admission.

Good luck and keep your head up.

congrats to those already accepted!! what a great gift :yeah:. i have not heard anything yet and so i continue to bite my nails in anticipation. hopefully i will get an acceptance call today. i believe since they gave the 15th as the date, they will continue to make calls until then. maybe it's done alphabetically and broken up by days. see...that's a type a personality trying to make sense of something that makes her nervous!! anywho, keep your phones close! :D
