Johns Hopkins BSN/MSN 2009 Applicants!

Hey! I am starting to apply for the traditional BSN/MSN program at Johns Hopkins, and I was wondering if anyone else is out there freaking out about their applications!

Holler back! :nurse:

Sorry guys, I tried to pry the dates of the phone acceptances out of them, as in, if they were going to do it earlier than the 15th, but Chris Boyle couldn't say for sure. Last year I do remember they did it earlier than the 15th, so if you have caller ID and you get a display from a (410) area code in the next week or so, definitely answer it!

Good luck! :)

Oh wow! I think it's so cool how you're so active on this board. As a current undergraduate at JHU, I also actively participate in their message board for prospective students (http://apply.jhu.edu/forums). Now that I am on the other side of the application pool, it is quite interesting! Anyway, thanks for all of your help on the board. Your information and personal input are very appreciated! :)

P.S. I also applied Early Decision to the BSN-MSN program (accelerated). The specialty I chose was Public Health Nursing (as I am a fourth year undergraduate studying Public Health at JHU and the Bloomberg School of Public Health). I may apply to the MSN-MPH if I get into the BSN-MSN. :) Good luck you guys! A little over a week left!

Hi everyone,

Been pretty busy lately, and not as active on the threads. Glad this one started. Good to see some familiar screen names!

I applied to the ABSN program too, I havent gotten any phone interviews though...is it only for the ABSN-MSN track? (Ah!!!)

Thanks Asherah, for the heads up---I hope my phone dosent die on me! I'm so anxious!! I'm tempted to fly over there and visit the office.

Hey there! Don't worry - applicants to the BSN-MSN were contacted with interviews (phone or in-person) only. Those who just applied to the BSN (accelerated or traditional) had to personally request an interview if they wanted (as it is not required). You're ok! :)

Whew! Thank you!

I thought I'd already gotten eliminated. I'll keep crossing my fingers then :chuckle

Well, tomorrow is the beginning of the week we've been anticipating. I have a feeling I'm going to be one of the last people to hear back since I literally was the last person to turn in my application for ED (around two weeks ago). Luckily I have to work a lot this week and study so I won't be able to hover over my phone waiting for a 410 area code.

Good luck everyone and please keep us updated :)

:DThat brings up a good point, what if one should miss the call? Would they email us...I mean, if we miss the call, it dosent mean we'd get eliminated, right? (I heard some schools do that...)

I'm sure that if they call and no one answers, they will either leave a message or call back. I can't imagine that they put so much time into the application process just to pass you up if you don't answer the phone when they call!

Hopefully this is the week...good luck everyone!

Yea, I was thinking that too. It'd be most logical.

With fingers crossed, I'll just hope for the best. I wonder, do they have an appeals system, to appeal a rejection/denial of admission like some other universities do?

I heard that they sent out an acceptance letter in addition to calling. I think they just call sooner than the letter arrives. So if you missed their call, you'll find out one way or another. From past threads, there has been people that appealed and was later accepted.

Really?? How? And which thread?

Thanks! That doubles my hope!! Hahaha

Yeah I feel the same way. I just got the mail so at least I know I won't be getting a rejection letter today. I wasn't stressed out about waiting, but I'm turning into one big nerve ball now that I know decisions are given out this week. I'm in so cal so I'm pretty sure I won't be getting a call (if I even do get one) after 2 since their offices close at 5. Until 2, I'll be baking to get rid of my anxiety haha.

Here is the thread I was talking about: https://allnurses.com/forums/f223/any-johns-hopkins-jhu-bsn-msn-2008-applicants-237705-9.html

Ha. I just found that same thread (thanks!). I'm in CA too, but north instead. I'm at school trying to study for finals, but can't help being all nervous about JHU this week. Distracted.

I have a slight feeling that I'll probably be asking Asherah for advice very soon...but hopefully, I wont have to...and neither will any of us.:saint: I hope JHU stays as nice this year as last year!

Try going out for a jog, it gets my nervous energy out. Staying on this forum helps too :-)
