Johns Hopkins BSN/MSN 2009 Applicants!

Hey! I am starting to apply for the traditional BSN/MSN program at Johns Hopkins, and I was wondering if anyone else is out there freaking out about their applications!

Holler back! :nurse:

I hope I am going to JHU...haven't been accepted yet. But I will know by December 15. And yes, I will be very excited!!!

They have a new online application process--wow! I had no idea. When I submitted my application in October there was no choice--you could download the application off their site, but you had to print it and mail it in. Good to know they now have an online process--that would have been easier!

It is very exciting, isn't it? Good luck!

JHU update...got a call today from JHU Bayview nurse recruiter. I went online last night and applied to the ER there. She wanted to get more information. I told her I could start in 9/2009 if admitted to the university. Actually, I might be able to start earlier if admitted. If admitted, I want to move in May 2009 after the kids are out of school and get settled over the summer. Still waiting.............

I am applying to the accelerated bsn/msn as well, with regular decision. i just scheduled my interview yesterday for dec. 30th.

best of luck to all who are applying, and to all of the ED applicants waiting with baited breath! :D

I just got approval to change the status of my application to ED!! So I'll be able to find out with you guys in two and a half weeks! Good luck guys!! :)

Congrats Serasarash! I know you really want to go to Hopkins, and it will be so much better to know sooner! It's very impressive to me that the JHUSON staff is so accommodating and easy to work with...aren't you glad you asked them to change your status?

Good luck to all of us who are waiting! We will know soon...

I'm extremely happy that they allowed me to change it! I can't believe they agreed with such short notice. I didn't even think to ask until one of the members of AN (and a student at JHSON) suggested it. How often do they meet to look over applications? Did they say when they would start notifying people? I'm crossing my fingers for all of us!!

Well I'd say its an example of how flexible the administration and adcom is, really. I had a feeling they would be able to change it for you. I don't know how often they meet for decisions, but my clinical instructor is on the committee and she shared some insight about it. Its a very fair process, each app/statement has two readers and they consider every component on your application. I wish I could peek inside the process, I've always been interested in it as well.

FYI, last year phone calls were made around December 8th or 9th, definitely earlier than the 15th. I can try to ask around and see if they'll tell me anything about dates, but likely not.

Hang in there, those who are waiting on ED! ;)

Hi Asherah - I know you're BSN/MSN at JHU, so I'm not sure if your experience is the same as those just applying for the ABSN program. Do you happen to know if everyone gets acceptance phone calls, or just those applying to the combined BSN/MSN program? I know I haven't gotten an interview call but that's not unusual since I'm just applying for the ABSN. I'm also curious because I did just get an acceptance letter from the other ABSN program that I applied to this fall - however, my heart's still set on Hopkins. (I am not a patient person, alas!)

Thanks for your help! Good luck everyone!

Yes, they will phone both ABSN and Trad applicants if accepted (doesn't matter if you're applying for the MSN as well, or not.)

Does anyone know when the committee meets to accept applicants? I have everything in. I only have to get an academic reference for which I have but my instructor has to submit a paper.

Sorry guys, I tried to pry the dates of the phone acceptances out of them, as in, if they were going to do it earlier than the 15th, but Chris Boyle couldn't say for sure. Last year I do remember they did it earlier than the 15th, so if you have caller ID and you get a display from a (410) area code in the next week or so, definitely answer it!

Good luck! :)

Hi there, ( I made this post on "Hopkins... who else is applying" thread so I thought i'd share it again here)

This is my first posting (though I have been a fan here for months) and when I discovered this thread I just had to join! I applied for early decision traditional bsn "class of 2011" set to start in fall "09" as well. I am glad to know that I am not alone in this crazy wait!! They send a letter but I have heard that in the past they won't hesitate to email you after the 15th if you don't know yet.

This is the only school I want to attend but if I don't get accepted then I will apply to umbc and towson. I will also do a back up app for the ccbc essex (that's where I'm completing my prereqs) program as well.

The open house was so informational as someone mentioned in previous post. Have you all been checking out the blogs http://www.son.jhmi.edu/blogs/blogs/default.aspx from the students currently attending? I swear they are soooo theraputic, they make you feel as if you are already there!

Good luck to everyone sharing the same wait!!!

Welcome Network2Networth! I think the wait is getting crazy for everyone now. I know I've totally checked out the blogs too - I've got a lot more downtime for some reason at the end of this semester, so there's little to do but browse the internet and daydream about next year! (Yeah, daydreaming about school - what a nerd!)
