Is there anyone on here who applied or is applying to the program starting spring 2016?
I just finished the summer session at JTCC which was my first semester and applied to the spring 2016 traditional track. I just moved here from NC in June and I'm so nervous about my application.
Haha, I'm a list person too. I have a list and tons of questions written down also :) I've also made an appointment for the physical and am gonna wait until after the meeting to schedule a cpr class. I called around and got confused about exactly which class to take since it's so specific. Ordered a stethoscope and pressure cuff today also. See you Friday!
I'm taking mine this Saturday through a company called EnjoyCPR. I went to the AHA website and they referred me to some places. Just put in your zipcode and the companies that have upcoming classes will populate.
EnjoyCPR is conducting their class at a Best Western off of midlothian turnpike. It's about 20 minutes from my place. The cost was $79 (ouch) but there are no other fees involved. You have the option to get a book but it's not a requirement. The class is 3 hours long and they will mail you your card, I'm sure they will supply me with some type of confirmation of completion.
I wish I would have looked into the FREE class that the guy mentioned during orientation BUT he did say that they fill up fast.
Did anyone find a better price for the CPR class?
And what about sneakers versus those ugly nursing shoes that so many swear by? I know we'll be on our feet during clinical(s), at least for the majority of the time. What are you leaning towards; sneakers, clogs, nursing shoes? I don't want to develop back or feet issues and reading some the reviews, those nursing shoes seem to do the job. What do you girls think?
I got a pair of white non slip sketchers. For me personally I feel like I'd prefer them to the nursing clogs. They're made out of material that can be wiped clean also. I got them from Rack Room Shoes. I'm at a loss for a cheaper CPR class. That free one the guy in orientatiin talked about is impossible.. there's nothing on the Richmond Volunteer Rescue Squad website and they don't answer phones of return messages. The best I've found is for $50 just searching on Google and calling. But a book was needed for $20 to buy on site also. Everything is getting so expensive, lol. Trying so hard to get it all done but I just moved two days ago and work 6 shifts a week. It's all making me crazy.
I'm looking at some white new balance but I'm not sure how they will feel on my feet by the time the day is done. I think I'm going get some inserts specifically made for my arch, that should do the job until I figure out what really works. I know what you mean, it feels like money is just falling out of my account, :) I recently ordered some uniform tops and a lab coat, the same day that I logon and paid for the Certified Profile Background Check, that hurt. And this Certified Profile is out of date and isn't as user friendly as you would think. Okay, rant over, lol.
I hope your move went smoothly :)
