John Tyler Spring 2016 applicants

U.S.A. Virginia

Is there anyone on here who applied or is applying to the program starting spring 2016?

I just finished the summer session at JTCC which was my first semester and applied to the spring 2016 traditional track. I just moved here from NC in June and I'm so nervous about my application.

I know they said 70-80 students total (hybrid and traditional) when I went to the info session in July. There were a lot of people attending. The director said most score proficient but I find it hard to believe serious pre nursing students usually don't score higher than that... at least as high as we did. I'm currently in A&P 1 and college algebra. If I can score that high without those important classes, I feel most will score higher than I, but I tend to over analyze and worry too much. Lol

Hi all,

I've also applied for the spring 2016 application period. I moved here in January 2014 from Washington State. We are military too (Army) but we decided to move to Midlothian for the school district (my middle schooler) so my husband drives about 45 min to work daily. I studied for about two weeks for the TEAS and received an 84% (95% national ranking) and have a 4.0 as well. I am wondering the same types of questions, e.g., how many applied? what is the average TEAS score of this applicant pool? I'm taking A&PII and Microbiology and it seems that I have several classmates that have also applied. Not to mention, they extended the open application period this time. There's four more days until the period is up so retaking the TEAS is not an option for me. I guess we'll have to just wait and see...

Hi!

My husband and I moved from Jacksonville NC (Camp Lejeune/Marines). I wish we could live out in that area. We live in base housing so I'll be making the same drive as your husband. I really hope everyone who has replied to this forum has really high scores compared to most applicants, otherwise it's going to be extremely competitive.

I've only asked 2 other girls about their TEAS, my lab partner says she scored in the same national ranking as me but didn't give me her overall ATI. And the other was still planning on taking it.

I'm with you! Seems that those of you that replied to this forum have really high numbers working in their favor. I'm just as anxious and wanted to see what the applicant pool looks like. Hopefully, you'll get some more responses :*) I hope your enjoying VA!

That's what makes me so nervous! I have never been able to get in touch with my advisor by phone or email, so I expressed my concerns to one of my teachers in the science department. He called someone in the nursing department and I asked her opinion on my TEAS score. All I wanted to know is if was a competitive score or should I retake prior to submitting my application. She said 95th is very competitive and not take it again. I really hope we all are the ones with the top scores. We seem to have very similar numbers!

I did the same thing when I took my TEAS and when I emailed my advisor, I received an automated response stating she was on summer break. It seems the nursing department at JTCC all take summer break, which is probably why there are no summer Nursing courses offered here during that time. BUT I emailed her again with the subject "I know you're on summer break but I have an important question" (lol) she emailed me back. Unfortunately, the TEAS wasn't the important question, I was changing my major and wanted to know if that would effect my chances of getting into the Nursing program. She did seem a little annoyed. I ended up asking my Med Terminology Instructor, she is great! She is a nurse so I thought she would have an idea, but she just figured it was a "great" score since JTCC was looking for a minimum of 45% overall SO that was that...I just submitted the application and crossed my fingers. You should be able to get a hold of your advisor now, although, it is a little weird that he/she didn't reply at least with an automated message telling you that she's not going reply to a certain date. I think we're all pretty competitive, it's just a numbers game at this point, depending how many competitive applicants applied. Last day to submit SO the waiting game REALLY begins tomorrow…

I did! I applied to the Hybrid track only. Wow you guys have high scores! My score was only 79.3, still advanced and in 88th percentile, but I did not take it until the end of August so I did not have time to retake. I only have a 3.6 GPA (two B's that transferred from my previous degree and 3 classes I took this summer, all A's) I did meet with an advisor, who said my TEAS score was good, surprisingly. I applied to the hybrid program and I found it interesting she said that last year they did not have many ppl interested in the hybrid program but this year they are taking 30 people into that program. I also asked about the average TEAS scores that were accepted and GPA's but she couldnt give me a straight answer, just that it varies depending on how many people apply.

Awesome! I did traditional only.

I applied to the hybrid track only. I took my TEAS in July and really wanted to take it again but didn't get a chance. I scored 83% overall and 93% program. I didn't study and bombed my science section =/ I was surfing AN earlier in the summer and was reading applicants stating they had high TEAS scores and didn't get in.. Since JT shifted their program requirements focusing more on TEAS scores alone I'm not sure what to expect. Does anyone know about how many applicants they take into the hybrid track? I wish you all the very best!!!

Those are really great scores too, NurseMom17, and Jenn.Wasser. I can't remember how many ppl they said they are accepting but I do remember them mentioning that getting in will all depend on who applies (TEAS and GPA). I was seriously thinking about applying to both but I'm not sure if the hybrid was for me, so I strictly went with the traditional. Of course the amount of applicants accepted depends on the amount of nursing faculty...lots of luck everyone!

So cool to see some applicants for the Spring entry on here! I also only applied to the hybrid track. Over the summer I sat with a nursing advisor and she informed me that this is the first semester that they are only considering TEAS scores. She stated that they would only consider GPA as a secondary measure. I think I could have done a bit better on my TEAS. I guess we will see!! Wishing you all the very best of luck =)

I wish that our advisors could tell us more! Like how many applications were submitted for the spring and what the average TEAS score was. I doubt any amount of information would help me stress less but I'm so ready to know either way! Probably 4 more weeks and we should start getting some emails!
