Who is planning on applying for the JTCC programs for Fall, 2016?

I'm only applying to the hybrid track (thanks to my little kiddos at home, lol)!

Does anyone know if it's advantageous to apply to only one track or two both?

I don't think JTCC uses HCA hospitals exclusively. On the JTCC nursing website, there's a part that states 1st priority is given to students in the school's local service area - Chesterfield and localities, but that due to available clinical sites in other areas, localities including Hanover and Henrico are currently included. (HCA has no hospital in Hanover, just an Urgent Care facility). So I am hoping I will get into JTCC and do some clinicals over on this side of town! (This forum makes me wait 900 seconds in between posts!)

From my experience so far, JTCC does clinicals only at HCA facilities.....

Ed911 are you currently in their program? If so do you like it??

I am.....yes, it's an affordable program with good NCLEX pass rates.

I know it's affordable and I know the pass rates but what do you think of the experience? The professors? The curriculum and instruction?

I am not sure how JTCC is compared with other nursing programs since this is the only one I applied to. I think the curriculum is great.....tons of resources, including electronic adaptive resources. Students can use the resources as they need to fit their style of learning the best. Along with regular labs and classes, open labs are available a few days a week to practice skills. The instructors are excellent about staying in touch via email and announcements. They assure students of their availability for questions and concerns. It is not an easy program and is very time consuming. Literally all I do if I am not in class or not at my fulltime job is study. However, I think the challenge of the program will assist me in the appropriate competency as a nurse.

Thanks for the info!! Sounds great and JT is my first choice. I saw on another post about JTCC that only 80% of the people accepted made it past the first class. Why is that?? And how is juggling work and school? I will definitely have to work in order to pay bills and stuff but I'm worried I'll be overwhelmed.

Nursing school and a fulltime job is very difficult and there is not any extra time outside work and school. The vast majority of students do not work or work minimally. However, I couldn't afford to give up a fulltime job. Thankfully, my workplace does work with me regarding work schedule around classes.

As as for the dropout rate, there are a few reasons. There are some that were accepted and didn't show up to class so I am guessing they changed their minds and withdrew. Others do not realize the amount of time needed to devote to nursing school and decide to pursue a different career. There are numerous tests, homework assignment deadlines, quizzes, and lab practical skill check offs, so some have to withdraw due to being below acceptable grade average or not passing the check offs. The classes start out quite large and the numbers drop relatively quickly. The best thing I can suggest is fine tuning test taking skills, along with time management. I have learned that I can't read everything in the books or do all the practice quizzes. I focus mostly on the main objectives and that has really helped.

Today is one of those days where I'm sitting and biting my nails waiting for acceptance/rejection time! Anyone with me?

I am totally with you! It's always in the back of my mind, and I check my e-mail a lot! Based on your previous post about your TEAs score and GPA, you shouldn't have a problem getting in, but I know that doesn't help much with the wait.

I tell myself the same thing. Like, I'd honestly be shocked if I didn't get in, but I can't relax until I know for sure!

and yeah, I check my email all the time even though it's not even close to time!

I was fairly certain that admissions decisions would be made by the end of this month, but that would only be about 6 weeks, and previous groups seem to have waited a little longer, like 8 weeks. I guess we'll wait as long as we have to!
