John Tyler - Fall 2016

Who is planning on applying for the JTCC programs for Fall, 2016?

I'm only applying to the hybrid track (thanks to my little kiddos at home, lol)!

Does anyone know if it's advantageous to apply to only one track or two both?

I pulled the trigger last night and submitted the application email! Does anyone know when we're supposed to find out? I feel like I've heard 6-8 weeks.

I applied for the traditional track. I'm super nervous and the wait is going to be awful! Anyone have a back up plan or school if they don't get in to Jtcc?

J. Sarg's deadline isn't until May, so I'm considering using them as a backup. But I really prefer the hybrid track bc of my kids.

I've heard they use TEAS scores to rank and then GPA (as a tie breaker). Well, I scored in the 99th percentile in all categories but math, and that was the 96th percentile, and 99th percentile overall, and my GPA is 4.0. So I'm thinking that I'm going to get in.

Yea I was going to apply to JSarg and Rappahannock just in case. Nothing in life is guaranteed!

Hello, all! I have been reading posts here for a couple of weeks and thought I would join for mutual info and support! I have also applied to JTCC Nursing for this coming fall, and I just want the wait to be over! With an acceptance email, of course! 6-8 weeks does seem to be the time they take to review applicants and start notifying, and posts from previous application periods confirm this - I guess somewhere around the end of March? Not sure if it has any bearing, but John Tyler's Spring Break is the week beginning Monday March 21 ... I am also prepared to apply to JSRCC as a backup but really want the JTCC Hybrid program, I live in Mechanicsville, work nights in sleep study, have a family - so really want hybrid! So if I don't get that and have to go traditional, I would choose the commute to downtown! I'm sure you guys already know, but to be sure, JSRCC does differ a bit in its requirements ... especially in that they require the Kaplan. Anyway, just putting it out there in case it might help! I wish you guys good luck, and hope to see more posts!

I'm applying to JSarg too if I'm not accepted. I think we will here back from Jtcc before the JSarg application is do. I don't want to pay to take the Kaplan if I don't have to. Anyone know any info about their program?

I am familiar with the JSarg program. I had hoped to have started there this semester, but they require that you have completed the core prerequisites before applying, and I just did both parts of anatomy and physiology in the fall semester! Then I found out about JohnTyler's hybrid! J Sarg is a good program, but no hybrid option. They require the Kaplan test and let you take it there free in their testing center. They require you attend an info session in-person, in fact, that's how you get the application, which is paper, not electronic. Also, all nursing classes are on their downtown campus. What else do you need to know?

Yea I am familiar with their application process but just don't know anyone who has gone through their program. Their Nursing boards pass rate isn't as high as JTCC's but that doesn't mean they don't have a good program.

I see what you mean about the difference in pass rates. I know it's a solid program, though. In fact, my coworker has just started in it this semester. The JSarg program is rigorous, and I think the lower pass rate says more about the students and JSarg's selection process than it does about the program's ability to prepare them for the NCLEX. Also, in years past, JSarg's pass rates were higher than John Tyler's. I think it's a quality program!

Happen to know where JSarg students do their clinicals?

Good question!

Also, are all JTCC students places in HCA hospitals since the classes are at the JW site?

Mostly MCV
