Hi! Creating this thread for all those who plan on applying for the JTCC Fall 2018 RN session. (Hybrid or traditional)
Anybody who has previously applied to the JTCC program please feel free to join the discussion and tell us, applicants, how the application process went as well as how the nursing program went or is going!!
Best of luck to everyone who applies!!
I would certainly be interested in getting to know a few people through this. I have two friends going through nursing school, but they live in other States. I'm also friends with a Masters degree candidate nurse and my aunt-in-law and SIL are both nurses so I have a lot of resources and help. But nothing like having real time people.
Also are any of you planning on transferring to a university after this? I was planning on transferring to JMU and doing the pre-BSN track for automatic, but now I'm hearing financial aid may be jeopardized doing both at the same time. So now I'm wondering if I should wait and complete the extra classes later. I plan on talking to financial aid to get a clearer picture on Monday before I make my decision. Because I currently have the ability to get all of the pre-reqs for JMU out of the way this summer and not worry about it.
Hey everyone! I came across this thread, and just finished my second attempt at the teas. I'm applying for the spring 2019 semester, and I was just hoping some of you would be willing to share your experiences with the admissions process. I see a lot of you were nervous about getting in and I didn't do as well as I had hoped on the Teas- I'm freaking out a little. I would love to hear your teas scores and whether you were accepted, as well how the nursing program is going so far! I hope to hear all good things and wish you all the absolute best!
Hey! I know when I was applying I was SO nervous about the entire process and wished that someone would explain their experience for me, too. So, I'm going to give you as much info as I can, and I hope it helps!
As far as the TEAS goes, I took it twice. The first time I didn't really study, which I do NOT recommend :) and I did pretty well, but missed the mark for the science section by 1%!! I was so upset, but then I got the Mometrix ATI TEAS Secrets Study Guide and it helped me SO much! It breaks each section down and has several practice tests. So if you're thinking you might want to try it again to get a higher score, I highly recommend this book along with taking practice tests on Quizlet (there are hundreds for each section). The more you practice, the better your chances obviously, but you'll see some of those same questions on the actual TEAS test!
On the attempt that I submitted with my application, my percentile ranks were:
82% overall total
Reading 67% (my worst score ever but this section was so tricky for me this round lol thank God they didn't hold it against me)
Math 75%
Science 83%
English 90%
I applied for the Hybrid track and got accepted! I've heard of people with much higher and lower TEAS scores get in, so I definitely think they look at the total package. If your scores meet the mark, but aren't stellar, just make sure you have a strong personal essay. I also think already having a Bachelor's degree and having completed all of my general ed courses helped my chances.
Good Luck!!!
Wow, thank you SO much for all of this information!! You are incredible! I actually have this book, but haven't spent much time with it because I kept going all over the place trying all sorts of study manuals. Maybe I will try to stay focused on just one resource this go round. I really appreciate you. And congratulations on getting in!!!

I got a second email that revised my acceptance to be conditional based on my final grades from this semester. Makes sense but I was so excited to just be in and now I'm worried again.. I have an A and a high B in my classes but still. I just want to be in and get started.
Would anyone be interested in maybe meeting for coffee after the orientation? I want to know a few people when classes start in the fall :)
