Those who are working while in the monitoring program for your state. What type of job do you do and/or have you done since being in the program? How long did it take you to get hired? If you had to work in a non nurse position while searching, where did you work? Also not sure if anybody knows the answer, but is there a better chance finding work in a major city or further out? Im in a major city, and feel like job market is so saturated so that may diminish my chances of getting hired if theres hundreds of non-restricted nurses applying for same position.
Tammy Tidwell said:Other job ideas... plasma donation centers. Near me there are a few different companies, Parachute, BioLife, Kedplama, or CSL Plasma or check out - donatingplasma.org. I think it sounds like a fun job.
I don't 100% know the answer but I'm pretty sure they do not regularly pass meds or immunizations.
@Nursrcy00901 How were you able to do your random drug screens on work days? I am enrolled in TNPAP but haven't signed a monitoring agreement yet and I am so stressed about how that will work. I did not divert or come to work Impaired. Someone said I looked "pale, fidgety, sweaty, and hard to find" and I was taken for a drug test and I admitted I had been taking suboxone without a prescription. I have a valid script now but ofc I got fired and now I wait for what the evaluators recommendation is. She did say from her end she could tell I was highly motivated to stay sober and didn't think I needed any inpatient and was fine with me staying at my OBOT. Im worried about IOP (she didn't say she would make me go but that seems to be a pretty common theme) as I will lose my insurance at the end of the month and I have 0 savings.
I have been sober a year and I'm very proud of that and I know I'll have to prove myself trustworthy but I am so stressed about how I will be able to go to random UA's if I have a hospital job. I live in a small town and the closest place for me to go would be a hour and a half either way. Any advice from anyone would be helpful... I know I did wrong but I also wanted to live and I heard how costly TNPAP was but I'm in it now so I'm buckling in and trying to figure out how I'm going to do this. If anyone can give me an idea of how the process goes I would appreciate it!
Im in michigan, listening probationary status on 8/22 finally got a RN job last Friday in dialysis after 6 interviews.
Learn how to interview and engage with them, be social with everyone. Be likeable.
Get them to talk about themselves , get them to like you and they'll find a reason to hire you.
Out of those 6 I was "hired " by 3. Two didn't give a definitive start date.
So I had to go with the 3rd due to my financial situation I couldn't wait.
They offered 40$/hr I countered woth 43 and they gave 41.50.
My last job I was near 50$ ,at orientation the educator brought up the co pany had issues with detention ( gee I wonder why)
I asked about the wage difference. Diayslsys has room for growth he said with further certification after 1 year 3 and 5 years... again wonder why the retention issue.
I digress , the other area I had interviews with behaviroal nursing areas.
I had narcotic restriction which is the most difficult to work with.

Here in MA you need a job where you are passing meds at any level. That could be vaccines, vitamins etc. Do you normally administer any of those in plasma centers? Vaccines?
