Are there any jobs that would allow for time off in the summers?
I'm a single mom and child care in the summers is crazy so I was wondering if any type of job other than school nursing is really flexible. Am I looking at a per diem type job? Is it possible to work per diem full time?
I do not need healthcare as I receive full benefits through the VA and my daughter is covered by her dad.
Also I'm looking to move this summer and would want to travel to my elderly parents in the summertime for a month or two but in a typical job would have to work.
Am I just nuts? :)
Thanks

Sorry, but if you're ruling out school nursing, then I don't know what you could find. Even per diem positions usually require X hours per pay period or some other length of time.
I'm not ruling school nursing out - I was just meant I already knew that was a choice. Just wondering if there were any other alternatives!
people that do camp nursing all summer...what do they do all year that allows them that time off? Maybe I should post there instead? Wasnt sure!

Travel nursing? Then you could pick up a travel assignment near your parents during the summer and they could watch your daughter while you work?

Other than school nursing, I think a PRN position would be near perfect. The rules governing such a position vary from facility to facility but where I work, one is only required to work one shift per schedule which is every four weeks. Plus the bonus of being able to have holidays and weekends off, not having to submit for vacation time, and being able to work the shift that you want.
