I saw it in news earlier..
Filipino graduates of nursing courses are lining up for admission to England's Anglia Ruskin University for a training program called Student Work Placement Scheme(Swops) that gives them employment prospects in the United Kingdom.
Under Swops program, aspiring Filipinos who want to work in the UK can use this plan to give them the opportunity to study for a degree in Health and Social Care or a combined NVQ/First Line Management qualification.
While studying for their two-year course in BS in Health and Social Care the students, as part of their course will be required to work as care givers that will provide them the learning opportunities and support that their course of study will require.
Though they will have to pay for their initial costs in their placements, their salary as care givers will cover the costs of both living expenses in the UK and the full cost of the course.
"Initially carer would be their work because that's part of the training, but it doesn't mean they are domestic helpers since their work of place would be the commercial nursing homes," explained Simon Paice, office manager for ISALPI.
The health workers also have the chance to be employed in hospitals in Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Does not matter that you will graduate from a program there, the issue at hand is that you will not be able to get a visa to work there as an RN when you finish that program.
The fact at hand is that there is a hiring freeze in the UK for RNs, and even those that have been working there are not getting their visas renewed in many cases. You will not be getting paid at the RN salary but as a care-giver. Not enough money left to send home to help the family, you will be a care-giver for two years and then have to leave.
Things are not always as they seem, suggest that you do your homework on this one. And the two years of experience as a caregiver does not count as work experience as an RN for any future job.

this may seem misleading for some Filipino RN, yes, you can join the program but you will be studying in UK with the option to work. With a student visa, you are only allowed to work 20 hours per week. This is only good for those who really want to enhance their learning about the chosen course, but for income generation wise, I dont think this will serve its purpose...School Fees: £2,500 - £3,000, accommodation: if within Central London, a bedspace would be £70-80 per week, i.e. bedspace, you share the house with other occupants, if you prefer a studio flat, then it would be £500-£600 per month excluding bills, now on the compensation, let's just say the minimum in central london is £6.50 or £7.00 per hour and you are only allowed to work 20 hours per week...just do the math.....going through this option is, for me, not viable. just my thoughts....

this article had already been answered and made clear by the PNA in UK. i was interested in this program too, had myself signed-in in their free orientation, and was scheduled two days from now. But of course, I wouldn't just rely on articles, so I did my own research about this and found out it was merely a wicked bait some people used to make naive filipino nurses fall into. who wouldn't want to earn what according to them was "P183, 000.00" monthly, anyway right?! Especially now that it's difficult to find a job even if you're already a nurse due to the overwhelming ratio of nurses in relation to job vacancies... I'm just thankful that I never trusted them completely. And so I do hope this would spread the whole nursing community in our country, esp in Manila (where the "company", that can't even give me a website i can visit,is holding it's orientation sessions to their unknowing victims)...I am really concerned too...
i posted a reply on this, but i can't see it. anyway...yeah, i've seen this news on the net, and i even had myself sign up for the orientation. i was called by one agent in that company and gave me the details ... you know this is just, as i've said before, a wicked bait made up by some people who only like to earn in our expense!
but curious as i was, i've not been contented with the information they gave me, so i did my own research on the company etc., and then later on, seen this feedback from the president of the PNA in UK explaining and clarifying all the misinformations that this ISALPI gave out. it is really disappointing to find out it's a fraud after all. but i'm thankful that this was made known to the public even before they can attract more victims... here is the link, read and spread it... you can see the feedback article coming from PNA UK below the news part...

I received an invitation from a school in UK about this 2 year course. They stated that a qualification in Health or Social Care is required. Such as : - a Nursing qualification degree
- A Social Worker Qualification
- Nrsing Assistant Certificate
- TESDA accredited Caregiver Course (Certificate in
Caregiver 6 month and 760 hrs. Modular Certificate in
Elderly Care (340 hrs)
also a minimum of 12 months work experience in health and/or social care. They further state that whilst studying in UK, the student sponsor will provide students with a minimun annual income of UKPound10,500(this works out to UKPound21,000 gross or net of UKPound15,756 after tax over the two year sponsorship period).
Tuition Fee: UKpound2,950/year
Student monthly living costs will depend on the area and living standard (average figure: Accommodation UKPound250/month;Travel-UKPound40/month;food- depends on individual)
Students must exit UK upon completion of their study.
After some pencil pushing, I decided not to accept it.

The reason that you do not see your posts here immediately is that all posts need to be approved by an administrator or moderator first. So there is always a lag between the time posting and the time being seen.

Smart move and note that they have written that you would need to leave the UK after the two year period, yet there are those that think that they can just stay. And they cannot.
These programs are just taking advantage of you. There are no visas available there after any of these programs are completed, the UK does have a hiring freeze in place and it is a well known fact. Except some of these programs are hoping that you are not aware of this.
Shame on them.:angryfire
