Job prospects advice needed: John Muir Concord vs. El Camino Hospital Mountain View

Published

Hello,

I am currently working at a large magnet academic hospital in Los Angeles and I am planning to move back to NorCal where my family lives. I have 4 years experience (2 yrs step down and 2 yrs cardiac ICU) as BSN RN and also have my CCRN.

I need some more information (union, pay, new employee orientation, nurse satisfaction, teamwork among nurses and w/ MDs, etc.) between 2 hospitals where I would potentially work - John Muir Hospital Concord (specifically CVICU) and El Camino Hospital in Mountain View (in Critical Care Unit).

I truly appreciate any information you could give me. Thanks!

Try glassdoor.com for specific wages. Should be in the 60s hourly for base at both. I've heard nothing but good things about both those hospitals. I have a friend who works for John Muir, although she's in the ED and she raves about it. They treat their staff well it sounds like. I wish I had more specific information for you, hopefully someone will chime in. The nurses on OB over at El Camino seemed very happy when my sister had her baby.

If I ever wanted to double my housing costs those two would be the first hospitals I looked at for a job.

Thanks so much for your reply! My rent here in LA is also a lot just like in the Bay area, but pay up there is way higher than down here.

I don't know much about El Camino... But I did my preceptorship at John Muir and it is an amazing hospital. The nurses I worked with seemed very happy, and the hospital is a magnet hospital. I would recommend John Muir! But again, I dont know much about El Camino so I'm biased lol.
