I'm applying for the ADN program, I plan on doing an RN to BSN program as soon as possible. I can't afford the BSN program due to student loans. I have my BA in Elementary Education. I'm hoping to move to Western Washington, close to Seattle. What are my prospects for employment with an ADN? Will it be helpful being enrolled in an RN to BSN program? Will my previous degree help at all?

I was going to say that it depends on where you are as to whether ADN nurses are hired. We are in desperate need of nurses here in Eastern NC, so they hire ADNs with the expectation of getting your BSN within a defined time period. I have a masters in teaching! I think that it helps in the fact that it shows you can follow through and finish a degree and there is a lot of teaching in nursing. Some managers weigh that and some don't.
I did the same as you, an ADN at comm college that did not cost much and then an online RN-BSN at a state school that did not cost much either. The previous bachelor will definitely help when you go to get your BSN as you will have most, if not all pre-reqs for the next degree.
