2 job offers and need to make a choice by tonight! help!

U.S.A. Florida

Hi everyone!

I'm hoping someone can give me an insight into what i should do. I am a new RN who graduated in May. I have received 2 job offers within the last week. I am so confused . I have made a pro and con list and still can't decide. i need advice. I am so lucky to have received the offers because so many of my fellow peers are still struggling to even get an interview. So believe me, i am appreciative. Both hospitals are here in South Florida, one in Palm Beach County and the other in Miami. There is a salary difference between both places that totals @850.00. Not a big deal. One facility is offering a sign on bonus of 3,000 and a loan forgiveness up to 25,000. This facility is offering me days. The second facility is in South Palm Beach County is offering my nights. there is no sign on bonus there , i am not sure of loan forgiveness. I would be a ortho nurse at the facility in palm beach and a med surg nurse at the miami hospital. I am so lost i can not make a decision to save my life. Any input would help. Oh yeah, and i live in Pembroke pInes, so it takes me 30 minutes to boca and 30 minutes to miami. Same distance either way. I am grasping at straws. help is needed!

PLEASE!!!!

Since you don't see an appreciative difference otherwise, I would go with the one that offers more salary.

If you want more money, better benefits and days, choose Miami.

If you want nights, choose Palm Beach County.

If you still can't decide, here's an old trick. Flip a coin and then observe which side you're hoping comes up.

This is a nice problem to have.

Let us know what you do.

Thanks for your response. I was thinking the same thing. But the important thing for me is the env at the facility. Everyone at the facility in Palm Beach was so overly nice and they loved me, as i loved them. The only draw back is that it is a 2 yr contract. The facility at Miami is wanting a one yr contract. and they are also nice it's just a diff atmosphere. Ahhh i am so lost. :(

Well, atmosphere can change once you start working. I have found through the years though, that making up the difference in pay can be impossible. That is why I advised to go with the better paying offer.

A few more items to consider on your list- who has better retirement benefits (higher matching, etc), health insurance, vacation days, shift differential (days, nights, weekends, holidays), education benefits. Personally, for me, the loan forgiveness would be really big, but I guess it depends how much you owe right now.

i don't know the benefits in detail with with palm beach facility except that they have the standard health benefits, 401 K, tuition reinbursment. Tom i am supposed to go to them and sign contract and do drug test, titers, etc. i will know more then. The facility is Miami is offering what i mentioned. i just called the palm beach facility and they do not offer loan forgiveness. :( i have a quarter in my hand about to flip it. ahhhhhh!!!!!!

I would go with Miami, but that's just me. You would only be locked in for 1 year which is a good thing if you find out you don't like it. Plus, they offer the sign on bonus & loan forgiveness. If you don't like it you can leave after the year. You would get a lot of experience on a Med/Surg floor during the day shift. Do you have any preference over Ortho or Med/Surg?

Thanks everyone..after deciding to just stop thinking about it, i sat down and relaxed for a bit..before i realized what i was doing, i called the hospital in Miami and accepted the offer. I had a headache, and had decided that i just needed to stop being so emotional over it, and worrying so much about making the right decision. I needed to be smart, so i did it. :) Big leap. But i am ready to start my career. THANK U ALL AGAIN!
