hi guys- i am a new graduate who has been searching relentlessly for a job with no luck. i am taking my boards in a week, and have focused my energy into studying and job searching. a graduate from the class before mine put in a good word for me with her manager, and her manager told her to have me send my resume. to make a long story short, hr in the hospital contacted me to set up an interview 2 days after i sent my resume and the hr rep said to me "there aren't any positions right now, but the director wants to interview you anyway". what does this mean??? i am really crazy over this because it is for the nicu which is what i have always wanted. i really want this job, but is there a job? i was just wondering what other nurses out there thought about this. i have an interview tuesday morning. thanks!
I didn't think I would have an update so soon, but I do!I sent an email to the Nursing Director thanking her for my interview. She sent me a very brief (but wonderful!) email back almost immediately that says:
"We would like for you to meet the managers of the NICU. I will be in touch! We are very interested!!"
Omg!!! Cross your fingers for me! I am ecstatic over this! Maybe there is a position after all..
That sounds GREAT!
Another update on this crazy situation!:
First of all, I took my NCLEX last Monday (the 17th). After freaking out waiting for 48 hours for Quick Results. I found out Wednesday morning that I PASSED and am an RN now.
Within hours of getting the results, the director that I interviewed with called me and asked if I could come in for another interview, this time with the NICU managers. I hurried and got dressed up and went over. I had an interview with the NICU managers and from what I was told they LOVED me.
After my meeting with them, the director said she really wants to hire me and is "afraid" to lose me to another hospital. #1- I am a new grad so to me this is nuts. People that have experience are having issues finding jobs in my area and this woman is afraid to lose ME. #2- ITS FOR MY DREAM NURSING SPECIALTY!
So the deal is that she still maintained that there are no positions and said she was having a meeting to see if they would allow her to have 1 more RN since she felt that they really do need another. If this works, I think I have it. Cross your fingers for me! I have never heard of anything like this!
