Hi congrats on getting an interview there, great facility. I'm from Baltimore I don't know anything about JHH but I have a friend who works at GBMC as a new hire and loves it. I'll be starting nursing school in May 09 and would like to eventually work in ICU, will hospitals hire you right out of school direclty into ICU? Sorry I couldn't answer any of your questions
yep, they sure will! I was told that JHH didn't, but as long as you have some kind of experience in an ICU (extern or leadership), they'll hire you... I'm also applying at Washington Hospital Center and Georgetown... and they all hire new grads into their ICUs. Good luck with school... it's crazy, but worth it!! :)
Judging from the date of your post this may not be pertinent anymore but they will explain all the starting rates to you with your first interview. I am a new graduate starting in the Cardiac Surgical ICU on the 26th, so they do hire new graduates. They start new grads out 50/50 rotation with every third weekend. They "salary" their employees for 40hr work weeks. But technically you can break the extra four hours up each week however you like within a 6 week timeframe. For full-time new graduates it works out to be around $58,000/yr and around $28/hr. I can't remember the exact rate. I hope this helped and good luck interviewing!
I'm doing a preceptorship in the Weinberg ICU and there is a new grad orienting there that I worked with the other day so there's another ICU that hires new grads. I understand they all do. I plan on working in one of the JHH ICUs after graduation this December. SPRING program sounds great, have you read the details about it on the Hopkins nursing site?

Hi -- I have an interview coming up in a couple weeks at Hopkins - Main campus - in the MICU and General Surgery ICU. Just wanted to see if anyone has experience or knows anything about these units? Also, does anyone know the current new grad hiring rate at JHH? I'm also going to apply at Bayview, too, but the recruiter there said to wait until March for that...
Thanks in advance!
