Jefferson state spring/summer 2017

U.S.A. Alabama

Hello everyone I just wanted to start a post for the spring/summer applicants of 2017. Hopefully the spring applicants can give us summer applicants some insight as to what we should expect and any helpful tips. Also please post which campus you will be applying to/1st and 2nd choice, teas test tips, and the points you will be applying with good luck to everyone.

She did it for me. They will use the best grades you have from certain classes.

Sent my application today.... I'm excited. Are u going to work in the program? DO you have an idea how intense the program is and maybe what we need to know.

I'm excited too! I'm not going to work because I've heard it's hard. I have a friend who is in her last semester and she said you will need to study a lot and focus all your time on nursing basically. But I don't really know what we will need to know. She did tell me the first semester bundle of books is like $700 though.

Specializes in Med surge, ED, Dialysis.

Wow 700 dollars...! And thats only for the 1st semester?

wow... $700, maybe she can give us tips on how to study

Yea but she also started at pell city campus but is now at the Jefferson campus and she said they are totally different so maybe we won't have to buy the bundle. But I might do it anyways just to be on the safe side. I will definitely be asking for study tips.

I applied for the Spring semester with 179 points. Jefferson first, and Shelby second. I also just found out I'm pregnant so I'm wondering if they will let me wait and start in the summer?

Not really sure how true this is but I heard that the instructors don't advise anyone pregnant to be in nursing because of the possibility of lifting heavy patients at clinicals but that's just hearsay. They might just tell you to reapply if you wanted to wait until summer. Good luck to you!

The baby's due in April so we won't be doing clinicals at that point. Just a lot of test taking. Hopefully we will get our letters soon and I'll go talk to an advisor and see what they say..when do you think the letters will come out?!

I was told the end of October or beginning of November. On other threads from the past years the latest I have seen people getting letters was November 6th.

I mailed my letter in and I hope they received it. I will call them this week to make sure they got it or should I go to an advisor with another application? should i send more than one? and Asuttle, I thought clinicals started the first semester

If you didn't want to make a trip up to the school you could probably just call and they should be able to tell you. Or you could email the advisor. Whatever makes you most comfortable.
