I wanted to start a thread for all who are planning on applying to the Fall 2015 nursing program. I feel it will be very helpful in the process. I just moved to Alabama in May of last year & was originally going for Physical Therapy (not assistant, actual therapist). Well that has fallen through & I feel led to go the nursing route. I already have a bachelors degree from another college so all my prerequisites are done (just wished I would have done a little better -hince my PT problem). I have signed up for my TEAS test for February 5th so hopefully if I don't get what I want I can retake it in time for the application. I emailed one of the advisors at the Shelby campus & she said the average applicant is at 60% /90pts. When I calculate that up it doesn't seem like much. So my goal is to make around 85% or more, but we shall see. I just know I need to do VERY,VERY well on the TEAS to make up for my grades not being all A's.
How about anyone else, where do you all stand with applying this fall? Are you doing full time, night-weekend? Which campus are you all applying to?
@ mariahcolleen - It is kinda tricky. So since we can't register you have to lookup the class on the pipeline and it will have a link on the course page that says lookup textbook. It will send you to another page that and you have to do a search for the books you're looking for. You have to be a bit tech savvy to do it, but hey better get use to that. We will to use computers from now on in nursing....Good luck!
The link just takes you to the book store page where it shows the bundle and two other books. I guess I'm just worried that there may be something in the bundle that we will need that isn't listed separately down below. I believe the bundle has the books for 102, 103 and 104 though so considering that it isn't such a bad deal. :)
Hey guys. I am a former Jeff State nursing student and I am going to be coming back to the night/weekend program this fall. Just want to tell yall my experience with the textbooks. I bought the bundle when I attended back in 2012. I never used the textbook codes, and there were a few books I never even opened. Some of the books are more for clinical paperwork, such as the pathophysiology book and careplan book. For the first semester (speaking to n/w program only) I would only worry about getting your Health Assessment book, Pharmacology book and your dosage calculations book, and maybe a pocket drug guide. Those can be found on amazon like yall have mentioned and it is SO much cheaper. Second semester, you will of course want to get your fundamentals book, but I HIGHLY recommend a care plan book as well. You will be so glad you have it when it comes to the dreaded clinical paperwork. A pocket lab values book is good also. The first time I was in nursing school they really pushed for us to buy the bundle so I did. I never used half of that crap to be honest. So save yourselves some money!
