Jefferson State Community College Fall 2015 Applicants

Published

I wanted to start a thread for all who are planning on applying to the Fall 2015 nursing program. I feel it will be very helpful in the process. I just moved to Alabama in May of last year & was originally going for Physical Therapy (not assistant, actual therapist). Well that has fallen through & I feel led to go the nursing route. I already have a bachelors degree from another college so all my prerequisites are done (just wished I would have done a little better -hince my PT problem). I have signed up for my TEAS test for February 5th so hopefully if I don't get what I want I can retake it in time for the application. I emailed one of the advisors at the Shelby campus & she said the average applicant is at 60% /90pts. When I calculate that up it doesn't seem like much. So my goal is to make around 85% or more, but we shall see. I just know I need to do VERY,VERY well on the TEAS to make up for my grades not being all A's.

How about anyone else, where do you all stand with applying this fall? Are you doing full time, night-weekend? Which campus are you all applying to?

I can only speak for the N/W program, but I bought all of my books from Amazon, through student Prime. All my books were fine. We didn't have to use the codes. And amazon was a better deal. Especially the ones I got as kindle formats. I could read them on my ipad or phone no matter where I was.

@ n.igmatic1, ADN, RN, thanks. Well now I'm not happy about NOT using the codes. One of them wasn't cheap! But I do agree Amazon was the better deal.

@feeneishia, look at the codes you bought as additional study resourses. Ergo, not a waste! Good luck, and God bless!

I guess, but I really don't spend that much money on study aids. I feel they should be cheap, but that's me.

Ok this may be a stupid question but do we only buy the bundle or do we need to buy the bundle along with the other books that have a quantity next to them?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the bundle is for all of the four classes for the first semester. I'm hoping someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I only have to take two classes this first semester, so I only bought those books from Amazon.

So in the follow-up email you received feeneishia it didn't say all the books we needed? I am assuming they will go over it in orientation. When is your orientation?

No, it didn't mention books at all. I looked at the books from the online schedule. It is very specific as to which classes are offered to the night/weekend group. Our orientation is July 15th at 5 pm. I will have to miss my Micro class, but that is not a problem. We're having a take home mid term that week.

I have class at the Jefferson campus in a few minutes. I'll go by the bookstore after class and see what i can find out about the books. I'll let y'all know what I learn.

Can someone send me a link to the Facebook page for 2015 N/W program? I can't find it.

Hey, everyone. Congrats to yall who got accepted! I applied for the night/ weekend program, but I have yet to hear anything. I've tried calling but can't get through, and I emailed my advisor but she didn't respond. Surely, even if I wasn't accepted they would let me know something, right?

They will, but I ran into this same problem. I notice that I didn't receive any message. So I called my adviser. She told me that I was sent an email Wednesday morning but I never received anything. So I had to email (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) in the nursing department in order to accept my space. GO up there and make sure, because I never received an email.
