U.S.A. Alabama

Published

October 8th 4:30 P.M. Is the deadline but I went ahead and turned my application in yesterday. I'm applying with 210 points to the Shelby campus. Good luck to everyone :o

Anyone at the shelby campus have access to the nursing classes on blackboard?

I start tomorrow and I don't have access to my class on blk board??? Hmmmm! Hope for no surprises in the morning!!

Mine just came up. Guess we just had to wait till midnight!

I saw my BB last night but, I didn't see the message from the instructor until this morning.

FYI: the message (in a nutshell) said Class today at 0900, "Bring syllabus and Calendar to class", and drug test today at 1300 cost $43 cash preferred, check and credit card accepted (credit card with additional fee).

The Syllabus is 15 pages and the calendar is 2 pages.

Give the syllabus a second to load in BB it may seem like it's not there but it is.

Good Luck Everyone!!!

Happy 1st day :-)

We got surprised with a sweet little dose cal test!!! Yay!!! Uh not so much!!! Lol ?

Are you at the Jeff campus???

No :( I'm at the Shelby campus! We don't have class till Monday. How was the dosage test?

I can't say yet!!! Lol!!! I think I did okay but grades aren't posted so idk yet!!! Staying positive and hopeful!!

Today was my first week of nursing school at the Shelby campus. The teachers are both great lecturers so that's good. The thing I don't like is that so many (the majority) in my class are total snobs. There are several who already have degrees in other things, work at the hospital or in medical offices and think they are above the rest of us. Then there's another bunch that sits with their little clique of friends and gives you the evil eye if you dare try to strike up a friendly conversation with them. I am dredding the lab aspect of nursing classes now :( I thought people in nursing school would be a little more friendly.........boy was I wrong :drowning:

I'm really sorry to hear that. I'm at the Jefferson Campus and so far so good. Everyone seems really focused on the end product: Graduating Nursing School+Passing Boards+Getting a Job. It seems that we have a good mix of students who are first time college students, older students, students with degrees in other fields, repeat students, etc. As a student with a bs degree in another field, I'm actually a little envious of those students who are not in my same predicament. Its pretty frustrating spending time getting a degree that is either useless or doesn't have a good job outlook. I'm hoping the "snobbish" air you feel at Shelby is just 1st term jitters. Hopefully, the next few weeks everyone will get over them and begin to feel safe enough to open up a little more. They're probably just a little nervous and trying to figure it all out. Anywhooo.....here's to wishing you all the best of luck this term, and when you're having a tough day just remember keep your eyes on the prize!!

Hi All!

The nerd in me created this little grade record to help me keep track of my grades this term (and future terms). I attached it to this email in PDF format. Let me know if you have trouble viewing and I can email it to you. Good Luck!! :)
