Hi Everyone,
I just applied to The RN program at Jeff State and I wanted to get a thread going for other Fall 2013 hopefuls. If you're like me, the next couple months of waiting is going to be torture and I just thought it would be helpful to have somewhere to go to help pass the time with others in our situation :) I'm pretty optimistic and think I have a good chance, but you just never know! What kind of scores did everyone apply with? I wonder what the cutoff will be? I was told it could be late July before we hear anything...anyone hear something different? Also, who is applying for part-time and who is applying for full-time?
Look forward to meeting you all and GOOD LUCK to EVERYONE!
Last year I received a phone call from the executive secretary of the dept. I had surgery less than a week previous, but I believe it was June 19? I had been told we wouldn't be contacted until July when I dropped off my application. I then received an email after the call. Keep in mind it will depend on staffing and the number of applicants as to when you are contacted. Good luck!
I hope they call! I know I'm kind of jumping the gun here, but does anyone know anything about the CPR class we are supposed to take? I plan on going to nursing school regardless of whether I'm accepted this semester or not, so I would like a head start. I saw that Hoover fire station has an online course where they test you on the skills in person. I was wondering if this was considered for healthcare?
Another question for people already in the nursing program- can we buy the books online or do we have to purchase them from the bookstore? I'm really hoping to save a few bucks where I can.
I looked online for a cheaper option I couldn't find one I had to buy mine from the bookstore. And about your CPR question we were told no online training would be accepted at all.
Aw man! I was unaware they weren't accepting the online training and skills test from Hoover fire dept. I heard several people doing it on here, and I guess I just assumed it would be okay Oh well. I have seen the books online for cheaper (about half of what the bookstore sells them for), but I read somewhere we need an online access code we can only get from the bookstore. Is this true?
Hi everyone! I can't believe I'm finally here. I have been on this board for years and am in the waiting for the call phase!! I applied with 191 points so I feel pretty good about that. My first choice is Jefferson days but will take N/W Shelby if that's all they offer. I am taking Micro this summer tue. thurs 8am. Crazy early but I read all the good reviews Dr./Mrs. Kelley got so I choose her class. Good luck to everyone!

If you go to the pioneer bookstore website, it will tell you what books for each class. I know I'm going to need hep b (3 shots), mmr, flu shot, and maybe something else I can't remember (was it Tdap?). I think you will need chickenpox (varicella) if you didn't have it as a child. I applied for the nights and weekends as well with 196.5 points (it didn't end up being 199 as I previously thought, I miscalculated), maybe we'll be in there together! Good luck :)
yes there are codes you need thats why the bundle is cheaper the codes expire so you can't find them used you may be able to get them from pearson but some people told me they asked and it would be higher but I would try for sure because $626 is a lot of money good luck.Aw man! I hope it's not by letter...I read on other boards where they got a phone call, I guess I was kinda imagining that :)
