Jeff State Fall 2013 hopefuls

U.S.A. Alabama

Hi Everyone,

I just applied to The RN program at Jeff State and I wanted to get a thread going for other Fall 2013 hopefuls. If you're like me, the next couple months of waiting is going to be torture and I just thought it would be helpful to have somewhere to go to help pass the time with others in our situation :) I'm pretty optimistic and think I have a good chance, but you just never know! What kind of scores did everyone apply with? I wonder what the cutoff will be? I was told it could be late July before we hear anything...anyone hear something different? Also, who is applying for part-time and who is applying for full-time?

Look forward to meeting you all and GOOD LUCK to EVERYONE!

I agree with aubgrl. I don't know what your other grades are like, but even if you bring your math up to a B that drastically changes your overall score, bettering your position. And you've got the time to do it, which is great! Maybe you could take it online since you've had it once already. I took it online and it was great because you can do the homework when it's convenient for you and you only have to go to the school for the midterm and final. It just frees up a lot of time ;)

I would retake it unless you have As in your other courses, and scored fairly well (75 and up) on teas.

If you could help me since you are in the program. If I got a C in algebra do you recommend taking it again? Thanks so much for the help!

Bamaal, it's really up to you, and what you feel comfortable with regarding the points criteria. I think most of us would suggest re-taking the math class. Currently, if you get an A that will give you 41 points total, a B would get you 25, and a C would be 10 points toward the possible 250 maximum attainable points. If your bio and or chemistry scores are at A level, and you are confident that your TEAS V score is high, you may get by without retaking it. But this is a competitive program, and you have time if you are looking at Summer 2014. I would just suggest getting as many points as you possibly can get...

On the application it says you get 0 points for a C in math.. I'm confused? Help me out.

For the "Math Coursework" portion you get 0 points for a C, but in the "Selected Coursework" portion, specifically CATII you will get 10 points for a C.

I have applied with 187.5. Do you all think I have a chance? The teas messed me up. I do have a 3.8 GPA.

Yeah probably, which program did you apply for?

I read somewhere Jeff State doesn't like transfer students, is this true? I've taken most of my coursework at Jeff State, but I am using a transfer credit for Chemistry toward my points. Could this effect my chances of getting in?

LCP616, JeffState generally won't allow nursing class credits from another school to transfer(ok, never is more like it), but as long as your core and Pre-reqs are from an accredited school, they are fine.

Good! I hope that's the case. I wonder why Jeff State won't take transferred nursing students? I am super nervous! I was told 4-6 weeks, is that accurate? Or is there a chance we'll find out sooner? Do they call, email, or mail letters out? I've read past threads, and it seems every semester is different. Does anyone know what they'll do this year?

not sure about the timeframe but i was told that it would be by letter.
