Jeff State Fall 2013 hopefuls

Published

Hi Everyone,

I just applied to The RN program at Jeff State and I wanted to get a thread going for other Fall 2013 hopefuls. If you're like me, the next couple months of waiting is going to be torture and I just thought it would be helpful to have somewhere to go to help pass the time with others in our situation :) I'm pretty optimistic and think I have a good chance, but you just never know! What kind of scores did everyone apply with? I wonder what the cutoff will be? I was told it could be late July before we hear anything...anyone hear something different? Also, who is applying for part-time and who is applying for full-time?

Look forward to meeting you all and GOOD LUCK to EVERYONE!

I will say that I had the codes the first 2 semesters and never used them. Things may be different now though since they are requiring the HESI.

Does hesi take place of nclex or is it additional testing throughout? When will nights and weekends need to have vaccines and CPr? It won't hurt to go ahead and get some of it done now right?

Hesi does not take the place of nclex. I know that. I believe the are nclex style questions we do at the end of each semester that prepare us for the nclex. We have to take the nclex if we want our license.

I haven't had microbiology, and i heard I have to take it by 2nd semester. Is this true?

Check your emails. Apparently a new code for the background check got released and you should let her know if youve already done it prior. How this doesnt mean we need to shell out another $29.

I didn't get an email. I paid for my background screen yesterday. Maybe the email was for full time?

yeah it looks that way

It's additional testing you will do each semester. It will be based on whatever class you are taking: Pharm, Fundamentals, OB. Ours was $89 but I know the day program paid $130, I think. It's a 50 test and ours counts as 5% of our grade.

So should we hold off for a few days on the background check Just to be sure?

Dang.... I am gonna go bankrupt by the time this is done! I don't understand why we have to pay for stuff that they choose to make us do. It isn't required by state it is school specific. I don't know where they expect us to come up with all this money esp when part time there are 3 semesters you can't get financial aid!

This stuff does add up quickly, it's expensive... But it's the cheapest option for nursing around here at the same time

Yeah I know it is the cheapest around. I would be ok if I could get a little aid money but I don't understand how we can have class tues and thurs for 3 hours each and sat lab/clinical and it only counts as 2 credits. That doesn't add up. I will find a way I just hope it's only like this the first semester. Otherwise I may not be able to afford it.
